Based on a true event- just last week, I posted a job opening for a junior-level role. As expected, it got several responses. But then came a message that shook me. A friend of mine, who just a week ago was happily working at a top firm as an IT Project Manager with a 25+ LPA package, asked if she could apply for the junior position. Why? She was laid off. What stunned me even more was her resume - she started her career at American Express , then moved to Ernst & Young , PwC , and most recently joined Ciena in February. By April, she was out. I always thought layoffs were rare, maybe just a buzzword, something that happened to lower-level employees.
