[Actual question which i screwed up. Bad Time for me]Number of users in 2001 for adwords, chrome, gmail, android and picassa are in the ratio of 6:9:14:13:8, and in 2004 we add 3 lakh more users. New ratio is 8:12:13:11:6. Number of picassa users in 2004= 1,44,000. Calculate number of adwords users in 2005

Took me about 15 minutes but i think i have the answer 
so first the initial ratios are  6 : 9 : 14 : 13 : 8  and they become 8 : 12 : 13 : 11 : 6                                                  Now lets consider the actual values of the first ratios were 6a : 9a : 14a : 13a : 8a , basically a is the common factor .                                                                                   
For the moment lets see how the ratios have changed 
it is +2 , +3 , -1 , -2 ,-2  , so eventually its +5 on some values and -5 on other , so which means that the users can be rearranged in our original ratio itself ,

new ratio will be as they said ,   8a : 12a : 13a : 11a : 6a , we just rearranged without adding anything , 
now to keep the new ratios the same we will divide out 300,000 into  8+12+13+11+6 parts which is 50 ,

Now 300,000/50 = 6000 , 
it is given that the value in 2004 for adwords is 144,000 
which means 8a + 8*6000 (our distributed value so that the ratios stays the same ) = 144,000
this gives us the a = 96000/8 = 12000.

Now , it the increment in the users is linear or not is unclear , so i'll just assume that it is linear 
so in 3 years it changed from 6a to 8a+8*6000 , so per year change will be  
8(a + 6000) - 6a 
substituting the values of a , 
2a + 8*6000 = 24,000 + 48,000 = 72,000 users were added in a span of 3 years  
assuming linear growth ,  72000/3 in one year = 24,000 in one year , 
so 144,000 + 24,000 = 168,000 (this answer assumes that the 3lac users that were added were distributed over the whole period)

if the interveiwer say that he just no new users will be added and its just reshuffling of the current users then the answer will be 144,000 + (2*a)/3 = 152,000 , since 2a were added over the course of 3 years......
