- Minimum 4-6 years of total experience
- Law firm experience is preferred
- Functional understanding of and experience in the power sector would be preferred;
- PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Coordinate with the concerned internal stakeholders (e.g. BD, Commercial, Operations teams) to collate all details associated with the issues raised in the petitions
- Analyze potential risks of the litigation and consult with the senior regarding the steps to be taken; provide strategic legal advice to the management on the way forward
- Assist the senior in appointing appropriate legal representatives to defend Apraava Energy s interests before law
- Prepare briefing notes for external legal counsel incorporating all details relevant to the litigation issue Supervise task performed by the external legal counsel and review draft petition prepared by them; thereafter finalize petition along with the senior to ensure adequate representation of the organization s interests
- Assist to arrange for required approvals at all stages of the litigation process
- Assist in building in-house capabilities to draft and file petitions on regulatory and small issues and thereafter appear before the relevant courts in the said matter as a company representative
- Drive initiatives providing support to prevent future litigations
- Support business development by providing legal inputs through the entire project lifecycle from bidding to commissioning and implementation
- Provide legal advice to all Apraava Energy businesses and departments, when necessary on a broad range of issues pertaining law including but not limited to applicable government laws and regulations, commercial / international contracts, company policies, mergers and acquisitions, litigation etc. without losing sight of strategic/commercial/business objectives
- Assist concerned teams in areas such as contract interpretations and negotiations, document vetting, draft notices and replies to letters received from counter-parties and regulators
- Keep updated on the latest developments in the energy sector and provide legal and practical insights on the impact of the same on Apraava s business and the way forward;
- Prepare and file comments on behalf of Apraava Energy to the policies and regulations issued by different authorities so as to highlight the areas of concern and betterment for the Company as well as for the sector; also appear before the respective authorities to make oral submissions as needed;
- Provide real time updates and consolidated monthly updates for the company and the shareholders;
- Participate and lead discussions with cross-functional team of Apraava to discuss latest updates in the energy sector and its impact on Apraava s business and practices;
- Participate in meetings with different associations and understand the issues plaguing the sector and the discuss the way forward on a larger platform;
- Ensure Company s compliance of applicable regulations and policies by interacting with internal stakeholders and providing necessary clarifications as needed.
- Assisting with legal due diligence and general research;
- Assisting with review and finalization of contracts and other documents;
- Coordinating between the internal and external stakeholders; and
- Transaction management.
