Network Monitoring & Management Specialist (6-8 yrs)

A Network Monitoring and Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing enterprise networks using advanced network management tools. The role involves ensuring network health, identifying and resolving performance issues, and maintaining configurations for compliance and security.

Key Responsibilities :

Network Monitoring :

- Configure and manage Network Node Manager i (NNMi) for proactive fault and performance monitoring.

- Use SolarWinds and SevOne to monitor network health, bandwidth utilization, and device performance.

- Set up thresholds, alerts, and dashboards for real-time insights into network operations.

Configuration Management :

- Use Network Configuration Manager (NCM) to back up, restore, and manage device configurations.

- Implement compliance checks for network device configurations against industry and organizational standards.

- Automate configuration updates and changes to reduce downtime and human error.

Log Management :

- Configure and manage Kiwi Syslog Server to collect, filter, and analyze syslog messages from network devices.

- Monitor logs for anomalies, security events, and operational trends.

- Develop scripts or use tools to correlate syslog data with network performance metrics for advanced troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution :

- Identify and troubleshoot network issues using tools like NNMi, SevOne, and syslog data.

- Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences.

- Collaborate with network engineers and IT teams to resolve complex incidents.

Performance Optimization :

- Analyze network performance data to identify bottlenecks and recommend optimizations.

- Generate performance reports and provide insights for capacity planning.

- Ensure network devices are operating within optimal parameters through regular monitoring and tuning.

Tool Administration :

- Maintain, upgrade, and configure monitoring and management tools such as NNMi, NCM, SolarWinds, and SevOne.

- Develop and maintain scripts for custom integrations and automation between tools.

- Ensure high availability and performance of monitoring platforms.

Documentation and Reporting :

- Create and maintain detailed documentation for monitoring setups, device configurations, and incident resolutions.

- Provide regular network performance and compliance reports to stakeholders.

- Document SOPs for monitoring and management processes.

Compliance and Security :

- Ensure network monitoring and configuration tools adhere to security standards and best practices.

- Perform audits of configurations and logs to identify potential security vulnerabilities.

- Implement access controls and role-based permissions for tool users.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

Technical Expertise :

- Proficiency in network monitoring tools like Network Node Manager i (NNMi), SolarWinds, and SevOne.

- Strong experience with Network Configuration Manager (NCM) for device configuration and compliance management.

- Hands-on experience with Kiwi Syslog Server for log collection and analysis.

- Familiarity with network protocols (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, IP, TCP, UDP).

Networking Knowledge :

- Strong understanding of network architecture, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.

- Experience with LAN/WAN management and troubleshooting.

- Knowledge of network security best practices and compliance standards.

Technology Skills :

- COTS Products- Network Node Manager(NNMi), NCM Solarwinds, Kiwi Syslogs, Sevone.

- Comfortable with various operating systems usage - Linux, Windows

- Scripting - Shell, PERL, Angular JS

- Database - Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL

- Good to have : Java Full-stack development with Spring MVC, Springboot, Angular

Domain Skills :

- Technical knowledge of Network and SNMP along with IP addressing and Basic NW troubleshooting skills.

- Good knowledge on MIBs, SNMP Traps and SNMP discovery, Understanding of various Network Elements such as Routers, Switches etc and their OEM and different routing protocols - TCP/IP, BGP etc.

- Knowledge of Routing Configuration, IP Prefix mapping and updates, AS-SET objects and Internet Route Registry.

Soft Skills :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex issues.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document findings and collaborate with teams.

- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 3+ years of experience in network monitoring and management.

- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent in network management tools.

- Experience with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation.

- Familiarity with ITIL practices for incident, change, and problem management.
