Hiring Makerspace Manager

Overview :

- We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Makerspace Manager to oversee the operations of our university's Makerspace.

- This facility is dedicated to fostering innovation and creativity, providing students across disciplines with the tools and knowledge to bring their ideas to life.

- The ideal candidate will be a champion of the maker culture, with a strong background in various manufacturing and prototyping technologies.

Responsibilities :

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Makerspace, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment.

- Facilitate the proper usage of all Makerspace tools and devices, including 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters, metalworking, and carpentry tools.

- Develop and conduct safety and operational training courses for all Makerspace users.

- Promote interdisciplinary projects and collaborations among students from different academic backgrounds.

- Oversee the security of the Makerspace, implementing protocols to safeguard equipment and users.

- Estimate and source necessary consumables and materials, maintaining optimal inventory levels for uninterrupted operations.

- Serve as a passionate advocate for the maker culture, inspiring and guiding students in their creative and technical endeavors.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

- 5-10 years of experience managing a makerspace, fabrication lab, or similar setting.

- Proven expertise in 3D printing, CNC routing, laser cutting, metalworking, and carpentry.

- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-disciplinary teams.

- Excellent communication and instructional skills, with experience in developing and leading workshops or courses.

- Passion for DIY projects and a strong advocate for the maker movement.
