Developer III -Operational Experience

SUMMARY

The Developer II/III actively contributes to the design and development of our exp.o Transportation (ECCO) system. ECCO provides a revolutionary approach to our integrated Transportation Management suite that transforms transportation and logistics business.

The Developer II/III is a member of an agile scrum team (SAFe framework) consisting of business analysts, quality assurance engineers, configuration developers, and Java developers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop web based transportation and logistics applications using Java and J2EE technology;
• Create and maintain the server side frameworks in Java language;
• Write Java server side APIs that client can communicate with;
• Use JDBC interface to store, extract and manipulate the data in the Oracle back end;
• Code application using HTML, JavaScript, Servlets, JDBC and Oracle;
• Test the User Interface modules;
• Fix the bugs discovered and reported;
• Regularly review application and server logs to proactively detect issues;
• Provide production support to the application already deployed in customer environment;
• Perform memory profiling of the software and identify issues with garbage collection;
• Complete performance analysis of the software and identify areas of performance improvement;
• Fix issues identified during memory and performance analysis;
• Review code;
• Research for various enhancements in the application;
• Integration of software with Geographical Maps;
• Create Hibernate mapping files;
• Add/Remove/Modify tables and table columns in database for different features;
• Create Import and Export mappers for importing data into ECCO from spreadsheets and XML;
• Integrate the ECCO System with other legacy applications;
• Create XSLT documents for report generation;
• Use AngularJS/HTML to develop the web mobile solution for ECCO;
• Write ant and maven scripts for generating builds;
• Help design and maintain an automated CI/CD pipeline via Jenkins;
• Deploy the builds in demo, test, and production environments;
• Create code branches and tags in subversion;
• Write Junit test cases for automated testing;
• Fix issues identified in unit testing and integration testing;
• Run simulation tests on ECCO for performance benchmarking;
• Use magic draw to create and maintain the class diagrams and use case diagrams;
• Design future development work based on business requirements and estimate effort; and
• Regularly demo latest development work to business stakeholders.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate those into enhancements to system behaviors
• Understand the impact of design decisions on usability, extensibility, maintainability and system performance.
• Helping to guide and train junior team members

QUALIFICATIONS

• Personal and professional alignment with Expeditors culture and ten critical success factors
• Experienced problem solver, strong collaborator and able to provide clarity around complex topics
• Experience with DevSecOps, Lean, Agile and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• BS in Computer Science or comparable training in data structures, object-oriented programming, state diagrams, application performance analysis, multi-threaded programming, and relational database concepts
• 5 - 10 years of related experience in object-oriented programming and component-based Java development in a team environment
• Customer-focused, quality, and consistency oriented approach to software development
• Experience with Java, SQL, XML, Spring, Hibernate, and relational databases
• Experience working on and supporting mission critical / enterprise scale applications
