Job Title: Chartered Accountant - Indirect Taxation (GST)

Job Overview:

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Chartered Accountant to manage indirect taxation matters, primarily Goods and Services Tax (GST), at our prestigious client site Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) in Chennai.

The role requires deep expertise in GST compliance, advisory, audits, and hands-on experience working in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

GST Compliance & Filing:

- Timely preparation and filing of monthly/quarterly/annual GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C).

- Reconciliation of GST data with books of accounts and government portals.

Advisory & Strategic Support:

- Provide expert GST-related advice to IOBs internal finance and audit teams.

- Analyze new GST notifications, circulars, and amendments for implications on bank operations.

GST Audits & Assessments:

- Handle GST departmental audits, inquiries, and assessments.

- Prepare and coordinate documentation for GST scrutiny and represent the client before authorities when required.

Liaising with Internal & External Stakeholders:

- Coordinate with the finance team, consultants, and statutory auditors.

- Support IOB in GST-related internal controls and process improvements.

Documentation & Reporting:

- Maintain up-to-date documentation of GST processes, reconciliations, and compliance status.

- Prepare regular MIS reports on tax positions, liabilities, and refunds.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Qualified Chartered Accountant with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience.

- Strong experience in indirect taxation, with a focus on GST compliance and advisory.

- Prior experience in BFSI sector or working with a public sector bank (preferred).

- Sound knowledge of Indian tax laws, finance regulations, and GST systems.

- Proficiency in MS Excel, Tally, and GSTN portal operations.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
