FirstCry - Database Administrator - PostgreSQL (4-7 yrs)

Job Description :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator proficient in PostgreSQL and MySQL, with a solid track record of 5-6 years in database management and administration.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in both PostgreSQL and MySQL environments, capable of maintaining, optimizing, and securing databases to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities :

- Manage and administer PostgreSQL and MySQL databases across multiple environments (development, testing, production).

- Perform installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations of database systems.

- Implement and maintain database security protocols and access controls.

- Monitor database performance, proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure optimal performance and availability.

- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.

- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database schema and queries.

- Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide technical support and resolution.

- Perform database capacity planning and resource management.

- Stay updated with database technologies and best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

- 5-10 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and MySQL.

- Proven expertise in database design, implementation, and administration.

- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with query optimization.

- Experience in database performance tuning and monitoring tools.

- Proficiency in database security management and data integrity principles.

- Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, and replication.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving skills.

- Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Skills :

- Certification in PostgreSQL or MySQL administration.

- Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, etc.).

- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.).
