Solar Engineer

Job location: Balangir, Odisha (On-Site)

About the role:

The Solar Engineer role will work on installations & commissioning of solar systems post sales. This role will drive quality installations & ensure effective monitoring. This role will manage the vendors for installation and sourcing along with ensuring optimal customer centricity and inclusivity. This role will supervise a team of installers, ensuring customer-centric and inclusive service delivery.

What you will be expected to do:

• Conduct meetings with customers to provide a high-level project overview, confirm system design, oversee project execution, and ensure effective team coordination.
• Conducting site surveys, assessing feasibility, energy production potential, load calculations and assisting the sales team in finalizing proposals for the customers.
• Oversee techno-commercial proposals, including payback calculations for solar photovoltaic systems, ensuring financial viability and long-term efficiency.
• Manage site activities from Power Purchase Agreements to Commissioning, followed by operations & maintenance to ensure system sustainability.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction/labor contractors and customers for smooth execution & partnership.
• Oversee end-to-end operations for rooftop solar projects, including planning, execution, procurement & net meter liaisoning.
• Supervise subcontractors, ensuring progress monitoring and adherence to quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to uphold safety and compliance protocols.
• Manage on-site and remote activities with a strong focus on efficiency and quality control.
• Optimize customer satisfaction by identifying workflow bottlenecks and implementing solutions to enhance responsiveness and reduce cycle times.
• Lead negotiations with installation & commissioning vendors to finalize contracts and optimize vendor selection & their onboarding.
• Oversee testing and commissioning of solar systems post-installation.
• Maintain documentation including Book of standard materials for rooftop solar customers, Book of Material for customers, installation checklists, system handover forms, and photos.
• Develop preventive and corrective maintenance plans to ensure system longevity and efficiency.

You might be a strong candidate if you have/are:

• 4 to 6 years of professional experience in the solar energy sector or a related industry.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with both external business partners and internal stakeholders.
• Have a well-established network within the solar or energy industry.
• Willingness to travel within and outside Odisha for 1015 days per month as required.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, logical reasoning, and data analysis.
