Solution Architect

Overview:

Kensium is currently seeking a Solution Architect to join our Solution Architecture and Design Practice.

You should have an entrepreneurial spirit. You will have the exciting opportunity to drive insights and innovation for our clients public-facing web properties. You will play an integral role in an exciting and fast-paced team where the sky is truly the limit. In this role, you will play a crucial part in understanding complex customer environments, developing solutions, and identifying new ways for brands to engage with their customers across digital channels on Commerce platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce and Magento primarily but not limited to these platforms only.

You should be a self-aware, self-starting individual with a well-rounded skillset; Someone who has the depth and breadth of technical knowledge to know the “right way” to develop automated processes and operation systems, while also possessing the fearlessness to propose new and innovative ideas. The right person for this job will pride themselves on taking responsibility for their role, but also not become too distracted by titles, because we often wear many hats, and each of us must do whatever it takes to get the job done. You should have the capacity to be given a task and own it because we loathe micro-management, and you should as well. This role carries with it the possibility of providing a good deal of influence on how our growing team matures as we expand our influence within the global e-commerce ecosystem. You should be a collaborative team member who is passionate about sharing the things you’ve learned as well as learning from others on the team.

We work with solution ecosystems spanning multiple products, ERP, Commerce, etc. This is a true facet of the way businesses and our customers operate today. Hence it is essential to have a keen eye for detail and understanding of business processes, systems, data flows and impact analysis.

• Are currently a Solution Architect, or full-stack developer with a handful of projects under your belt, as a technical leader, or solution architect.
• Have experience running production systems.
• Have experience designing software delivery pipelines from development to production.
• Have leveraged automation, metrics, and logging to improve products and processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical solution and outcome of a project from beginning to end.
• Consult with clients and lead them to the optimal technical solutions based on their needs, and business.
• Follow and passionately promote quality best practices from all sides of software engineering and systems operations.
• Design, implement, and maintain solutions that contribute to the automation of code/infrastructure changes, empowering development teams to have a seamless framework to deliver the best software.
• Maintain, enhance, and ensure good health of all software delivery processes and systems.
• Actively participate in high-level team activities such as architecture or process improvements.
• Communicate effectively and work well with cross-functional teams across geographic regions. (CRITICAL)
• Can analyse data to learn how to improve processes and systems continuously.
• Participation in pre & post-sales technical scoping, requirements gathering, and solution creation & review.
• Ability to bring new ideas to the client regarding strategy in engaging with customers across their digital channels.
• Align client’s business needs and process workflow with Magento by understanding the customer’s current state and business objectives.
• Produce the technical specifications needed to determine out-of-the-box capabilities or if there is a need for custom development.
• Maintain technical knowledge and certifications with Magento.
• Handle day-to-day application support issues that get escalated from level 2 support, if needed or required.

Qualifications and Basic Requirements

• Minimum of 4+ years of PHP web development experience
• Minimum of 4+ years of real-world e-commerce experience with the development of plugins, apps, or themes for Magento, Shopify, or BigCommerce.
• Prior work experience in a Consulting/Architecture position within a software and/or services company
• Have a bachelor’s degree in informatics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Interactive Design, Instructional Systems, or related fields. (PLUS)
• A keen understanding of data structures and workflow to aid clients in project scope and implementation requirements.
• Familiarity with Project Management Software (Wrike, Jira, Done, Smartsheet’s)
• Experience of Zend Framework, Symfony, Core PHP, and PHP frameworks
• Firm grasp of Git-based source control
• Competent with PHP object-oriented programming & MVC applications
• Competent with MySQL-based database concepts
• Profound knowledge of web technologies (HTML/XML/PHP/JavaScript)
• Hands-on knowledge and experience of working with one or more of the big three platforms i.e., Magento, BigCommerce, or Shopify.
• Solutions-oriented thinking; always looking for the smart solution to a problem rather than jumping at the first answer
• Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts, and ensuring follow-through with exceptional verbal and written communication
• A preoccupation with staying on top of industry trends and technologies
• Must be extremely passionate about learning new technologies & implementing them
• Must take ownership and accountability for projects & deliver on timelines
• Must have shown great results in academics
• Must be a smart out of the box thinker with leadership qualities

Skills and Technical Requirements

• Expert understanding of Magento's code structure, extension architecture, theming hierarchy, and fallback components (Magento Open Source and Magento Enterprise/Cloud versions 1 & 2)
• Expertise in authoring and extending Magento extensions
• Expertise in authoring, integration, and working with APIs from BigCommerce.
• Expertise in authoring and working with integrations involving the Shopify platform,
• Competent knowledge of e-commerce data organization and relationships
• Store catalog (categories/products/attributes)
• Sales orders (quotes/orders/invoices/shipments/credits)
• Experience with integration projects (e.g., API, Databases, ERP, CRM – Salesforce, Magento, Recommendation Engines, etc.)
• Familiarity with automated testing tools & strategies (Selenium, New Relic)
• Familiarity with automated deployment strategies (Jenkins, Bamboo, Bitbucket Pipelines)
• Familiarity with optimization & debugging tools & strategies (Memcached, Redis, Xdebug, PHP Unit)
• In-depth knowledge of PCI/PA-DSS compliance issues
• Experience in ERP integrations (NetSuite, ADP, Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics)
• Experience with caching and scaling techniques
• Experience in multi-store, multi-lingual, or multi-currency e-commerce implementations
• Experience with CSS preprocessors like SASS/LESS
• Understanding of database design.
• Competent in authoring JavaScript and using libraries such as jQuery
• Competent in web services integrations (REST/SOAP)
• A desire to be personally responsible for production-level code
• Ingenuity to leverage all available tools at your disposal
• Comfort working with Linux-based systems
• A passion for client success and the digital experience.
