Hil Test Engineer

Job Description​

Develop, Validate and troubleshoot systems used for autonomous machines. This includes onboard system validation work that integrates with machine systems and the autonomy sub-system areas of Planning, Perception, and Positioning technologies, as well as infrastructure areas supporting the development of these sub-systems (calibration, simulation, analytics, machine learning development pipelines).​

Work closely with the Autonomy Software Developers and Strategist roles to translate complex program or subsystem requirements into actionable development efforts and support the evaluation and development of automation validation.​

Perform lab-based validation efforts for the Command for Hauling (CFH) systems using Hardware in the Loop (HIL) simulation methods for all CFH releases.​

Simulate the real world scenarios to validate the Autonomous trucks using various simulation tools like Dynasty, Simulink plant models, TomSim, HiL and Software In Loop Systems. ​

Develop and maintain automated test cases in Python and automation desk. Formally document the automated test results and communicate issues to the developers and systems team.​

Maintain the lab simulators written in Python, Simulink and C++.​

Design the new HIL test benches for various CFH Trucks.​

Develop & maintain Plant Models using Dynasty/Simulink​

Skill set Required​

​

Expertise in autonomy features Assignment Manager, Vehicle Observer, Path Planning and Tracking, Site level operational systems like Cat MineStar​

Good knowledge on perception sensors – LiDAR, RADAR and vision systems​

Understanding of Positioning Systems – Inertial Measurement sensors, GPS and Applanix positioning systems​

Knowledge in communication protocols such as CAT protocol (CDL), CAN – J1939, Ethernet – TCP/IP and UDP/IP, Serial​

Programming – Python and C/C++​

HIL (dSPACE) - dSpace & Automation Desk ​

Setting up HIL systems​

Strong background on Machine Systems, Engines, Powertrain, Hydraulics, Sensors, Actuators and Perception components​

MATLab and Simulink Modelling​

Vector Tools (CANalyser/CANape)​

Networking concepts (UDP protocol)​
