Lead Data Scientist - Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (10-20 yrs)

Job Description :

To lead and implement AI/ML initiatives across the Banks technology landscape, aligning strategic objectives with data-driven insights, while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and innovation using machine learning and advanced analytics.

Functional Responsibilities :

- Design and deliver AI/ML use cases in collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and product teams.

- Own the AI/ML product lifecycle : from conceptualization and development to deployment and monitoring.

- Ensure high-quality, reproducible, and scalable AI solutions that add measurable business value.

- Frameworks, boundaries, decision making authority :

- Functions within the framework and boundaries of the banks IT and data governance policies.

- Authorized to make decisions on AI/ML project scoping, architecture choices, vendor selection, and resource allocation.

- Accountable for model development, deployment, and AI policy compliance within the banks internal control framework.

Experience :

- Minimum 10+ years in AI/ML or data science, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

- Proven experience in banking or financial services is highly preferred.

- Hands-on with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and tools (Python, SQL, Spark).

- Experience in Azure ML tools : Databricks etc.

- Experience with end-to-end model lifecycle management and MLOps.

Competencies :

- Proven leadership in managing high-performing AI/ML teams.

- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, deep learning, and NLP.

- Experience deploying models in production (on-prem/cloud).

- Strategic thinking with strong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.

- High level of ethics and regulatory awareness in deploying AI in banking.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
