Oracle Database Administrator - Implementation & Maintenance (8-10 yrs)

Responsibilities :

- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database environments (standalone, RAC, ASM).

- Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations.

- Manage database storage, user accounts, security privileges, and auditing.

- Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies (RMAN).

- Monitor database health, performance, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.

- Analyze database performance metrics and identify bottlenecks.

- Implement performance tuning techniques at the instance and SQL level.

- Utilize Oracle performance monitoring tools (OEM, AWR, ASH).

- Optimize SQL queries and database configurations for optimal performance.

- Implement and enforce Oracle database security policies and procedures.

- Manage user authentication and authorization.

- Implement data encryption and masking techniques.

- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

- Develop, implement, and test comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.

- Perform database restores and recoveries as needed.

- Ensure the recoverability of critical data in case of failures.

- Diagnose and resolve complex database issues in a timely and efficient manner.

- Provide on-call support as needed for critical database incidents.

- Collaborate with development and application teams to resolve database-related problems.

- Develop and maintain scripts (Shell, SQL, PL/SQL) to automate routine database tasks.

- Implement automation solutions for monitoring, maintenance, and deployment processes.

Documentation :

- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.

- Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other IT teams.

- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Participate in project planning and provide database-related expertise.

- Stay updated with the latest Oracle database features, technologies, and best practices.

- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve our database infrastructure.

Qualifications :

Experience:

- 8 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in a production environment.

- Proven experience in managing large and complex Oracle database systems.

- Strong experience with Oracle RAC and ASM.

- Extensive experience with RMAN for backup and recovery.

- Deep experience in performance tuning and optimization.

- Solid experience in implementing Oracle database security measures.

Technical Skills :

- Expert-level knowledge of Oracle database architecture and concepts.

- Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.

- Extensive experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

- In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix).

- Proficient in scripting languages (Shell scripting).

- Understanding of networking concepts related to database connectivity.

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification.

- Experience with Oracle Exadata.

- Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery.

- Experience with cloud-based Oracle database services (OCI, AWS RDS for Oracle).

- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
