Azure SQL Engineer - Performance Tuning (5-6 yrs)

Responsibilities :

- Design, implement, and manage Azure SQL Databases, including schema design, performance tuning, and security implementation.

- Develop and maintain database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and indexes.

- Implement and manage database backups, recovery strategies, and high availability solutions.

- Monitor database performance and identify areas for optimization.

- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory or other relevant Azure services.

- Extract data from various sources (on-premises, cloud, APIs), transform it according to business rules, and load it into Azure SQL Database or other data stores.

- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency throughout the data pipeline.

- Participate in data modeling activities to design efficient and effective database schemas.

- Contribute to the overall data architecture and strategy on the Azure platform.

- Identify and implement strategies to optimize the performance of Azure SQL Databases and data pipelines.

- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks.

- Implement data quality checks and validation processes.

- Contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance policies.

- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements.

- Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Utilize and integrate other relevant Azure services such as Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics (basic understanding), and Azure Functions.

- Implement and maintain security best practices for Azure SQL Databases and data pipelines.

Qualifications :

Experience :

- 5-6 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer.

- Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database design, implementation, and management.

- Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory or similar tools.

Technical Skills :

- Deep understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.

- Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.

- Strong experience with Azure SQL Database, including performance tuning and security.

- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory or other cloud-based ETL/ELT tools.

- Familiarity with data modeling techniques.

- Experience with scripting languages like Python for data manipulation and automation is a plus.

- Understanding of Azure cloud services and their integration within a data platform.

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Azure certifications related to data (Azure Data Engineer Associate).

- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.

- Experience with other NoSQL databases.

- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI).

- Experience with data governance frameworks.
