Ammonia Plant Operator

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ammonia Plant Operator to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of our ammonia production facility. The operator will be responsible for monitoring plant processes, conducting routine maintenance checks, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor ammonia production units and associated equipment (reformers, converters, compressors, heat exchangers).

Maintain optimum plant parameters for temperature, pressure, and flow to ensure product quality.

Perform daily plant inspections, record readings, and maintain operational logs.

Respond to alarms and troubleshoot equipment and process upsets.

Follow safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and environmental regulations.

Coordinate with control room operators, shift supervisors, and maintenance personnel.

Participate in shutdown, startup, and turnaround activities.

Assist in implementing preventive maintenance schedules.

Maintain cleanliness and operational integrity of assigned equipment.

Key Skills Required:

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of ammonia production processes (Haber-Bosch process, steam reforming).

Process Monitoring: Ability to monitor DCS (Distributed Control System) or SCADA systems.

Troubleshooting: Quick response to abnormal conditions and process deviations.

Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, safety protocols, and handling hazardous chemicals.

Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of pumps, compressors, valves, and piping systems.

Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for reporting and team coordination.

Attention to Detail: Accurate log keeping, monitoring parameters, and maintaining compliance.

Teamwork: Ability to work in shifts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Emergency Handling: Capable of handling emergency shutdowns and evacuations.
