Senior Resident - Emergency Medicine

responsibilities

• Patient Care:
• Performing comprehensive patient assessments on arrival to the emergency department.
• Initiating immediate life-saving interventions for critically ill patients.
• Diagnosing and managing a wide range of medical emergencies, including trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, respiratory distress, and acute abdominal pain.
• Ordering necessary diagnostic tests and interpreting results.
• Developing and implementing treatment plans, including medication administration and procedural management.
• Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
• Following up on patient care post-discharge.
• Leadership and Supervision:
• Overseeing and mentoring junior residents in the emergency department.
• Delegating tasks appropriately to junior staff.
• Reviewing patient charts and providing feedback to junior residents.
• Leading resuscitation efforts in critical situations.
• Education and Research:
• Participating in teaching rounds and lectures for medical students and junior residents.
• Presenting cases at departmental conferences and grand rounds.
• Contributing to research projects within the emergency medicine department.
• Staying updated on current advancements in emergency medicine through literature review and continuing medical education.
• Administrative Duties:
• Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
• Completing required administrative tasks, including shift reports and quality improvement initiatives
• Participating in departmental committees and quality assurance activities
• Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and other healthcare providers
• Advanced knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and treatments
• Leadership qualities to effectively supervise junior residents
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
