Job Description


Chief Engineer

Reporting ToGeneral ManagerLocation Open ExperienceMinimum of five years work experience in the hotel industry in Engineering management.


CTC BandNAQualificationB Tech/ BE Electrical, through knowledge in MEP, Age max 35 years, 100 room ++ Hotel experience mustOverall Responsibility


  1. Direct the short and long-term planning and day-to-day operations of the engineering department by developing and implementing strategies for proper operating and maintenance of the hotel.
  2. Responsible for Maintaining the Operational Efficiency and aesthetic of guest rooms , pubic areas and hotel facilities .
  3. Should Manage all Engineering/Maintenance operations, Including Maintaining the Building, Physical plant with particular attention towards the safety, security and asset protection
  4. Accountable for managing the budget , capital expenditure , Project , Preventive maintenance and Energy conservation.
  5. Responsible for maintaining the regulatory requirements.
  6. Should leads the emergency response team for all facility issues .

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Participates in the development and implementation of business strategies for the hotel which are aligned with overall mission, vision values and strategies

  • Participates in the development of the hotels business strategies
  • Develops and implements strategies for hotel engineering department that support achievement of the hotel’s goals
  • Monitors status regularly and adjusts strategies as appropriate
  • Develops the annual budget in conjunction with the Executive Committee
  • Participates in the development of the annual marketing, sales and yield management plans and strategies
  • Continually improve hotel engineering department and adheres to the hotel brand standards



Maximizes profitability and revenue by directing the Engineering department

  • Manages the Engineering department and third party vendor to ensure superior service and quality
  • Develop and implement quality control programs
  • Reviews contracts and negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Interprets plans and contract terms with Engineering team, management, clients, and vendors
  • Monitors compliance with building safety codes, health and safety laws and other regulations, conduct walk-throughs to assess the safety and efficiency of equipment and maintenance of structure
  • Maintains Responsible Business programs and training for hotel
  • Manages hotel renovations, coordinates project status with the Regional Technical Services Office, architects, licensing agencies, contractors and hotel management


Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement

  • Recruits and selects qualified candidates
  • Provides employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback
  • Provides employees with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach their fullest potential
  • Drives employee engagement through the creation and implementation of departmental action plans


Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing the experience through performance that demonstrates the standards of genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations. Provides employees with the training and resources they need to maximize employee engagement and deliver service and teamwork

  • Communicates and reinforces the company vision for to employees
  • Ensures that employees provide genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
  • Provides genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
  • Seeks opportunities to improve the customer experience by seeking customer feedback and reviewing management reports and developing strategies to improve department and hotel services
  • Provides employees with the tools, training and environment they need to deliver service and teamwork


Adheres to hotel policies and procedures

  • Keeps the General Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
  • Communicates effectively with guests, co-workers and the General Manager
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
  • Maintains a favourable working relationship with all other hotel employees to foster and promote a co-operative and harmonious working environment
  • At all times projects a favourable image of the Hotel to the public
  • Assists in the development of the Hotel business plan and ensures the department has an overall understanding of its goals and objectives
