Job Title: Project Engineer / Production Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer / Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on the shop floor in the sheet metal fabrication unit. The role includes managing manpower, ensuring production targets, handling documentation, coordinating with customers on project-specific needs, and maintaining quality and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manpower Handling

• Allocate daily work to operators based on production plans.
• Monitor worker performance and provide guidance or training where needed.
• Ensure discipline, safety, and morale on the shop floor.

1. Customer Coordination (Project-wise)

• Coordinate with customers and internal departments to understand project-specific requirements.
• Ensure timely updates and communication on production status.
• Attend project review meetings and address customer concerns.

1. Documentation

• Maintain production logs, inspection reports, and daily shift reports.
• Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO / quality system documentation.

1. Report Generation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Generate downtime analysis, production efficiency, and quality reports.
• Track and report rework, rejection, and scrap data.

1. Employees' Piece Rate Monitoring

• Monitor and record employee output as per piece rate norms.
• Verify and report production against targets.
• Assist in wage calculation based on piece-rate productivity.

1. OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Calculation

• Collect data on availability, performance, and quality.
• Analyse machine downtime, speed loss, and defect rates.
• Present OEE reports to management for improvement initiatives.

1. Work Report as per Cycle Time

• Track production against standard cycle times.
• Identify bottlenecks or delays in the production process.
• Ensure adherence to time standards to meet delivery timelines.

1. Production & Quality Supervision

• Ensure adherence to quality standards during fabrication operations like shearing, bending, punching, welding, etc.
• Collaborate with QC and maintenance teams for smooth operations.

1. 5S and Safety Implementation

• Maintain clean and organized work areas as per 5S practices.
• Ensure all safety measures and PPE usage by staff.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
• 3-8 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication industry.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes (laser cutting, punching, bending, welding).
• Hands-on experience with manpower handling and shift supervision.
• Familiarity with production planning tools and ERP systems.
• Good MS Excel skills for reporting and data analysis.
• Basic understanding of OEE, 5S, and lean manufacturing concepts.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
