Database Administrator - SQL Server (4-7 yrs)

- Have extensive 4+ year's experience in SQL Server Database Administration on production support of MSSQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019, PostgreSQL Database administration.

- Extensive work experience in Installations, Configurations and Troubleshooting of MSSQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2017&2019.

- Experience in finding Root cause for all kind of issues and documenting (SOP) the RCA.

- Exposure on SQL AZURE, ADF (Azure Data Factory) and Azure VM's.

- Experience on migrating databases from On-premises to AZURE cloud.

- Managing resources on the AZURE portal.

- Expertise in Database Backup/Recovery for Disaster Recovery procedures.

- Planning, implementing all types of Backup (Full, Differential, Transactional) and Restore.

- DB refreshes from Prod to Dev/QA Environments.

- Good knowledge on log shipping like failover, switchover operations.

- Huge experience in performing the DR activities

- Experience in Migrations of SQL server 2012/2014/2016/2017/2019.

- Administrating HA solutions like Log shipping, Mirroring, WFCS and HADR solution like Always ON Availability Group

- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

- Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

- Test backups to ensure we can meet the business' Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

- Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends

- Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms

- As new systems are brought in-house, choose whether to use log shipping, mirroring, or WFCS or Always ON high availability.

- When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes

- Finding DMV queries to answer questions about server-level performance Experience in troubleshooting high CPU and Memory issues on SQL Server.

- Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors

- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

Roles & Responsibilities :

- Participate in client discussions to gather scope information and perform analysis of scope information to provide input for project scoping documents.

- Design & deploy enterprise-wide database platform on Enterprise private cloud for managed database services.

- Define standard practices for database server build, installation & configuration, administration, and certification of required database software to fit to customer specific needs.

- Design database security guidelines, user access management process, database auditing & logging mechanisms, quality, and compliance tracking of the database configurations to adhere to organization security standards.

- Plan and implement high availability & disaster recovery strategy and solutions to meet defined SLA.

- Plan and implement database backup & recovery strategy to meet defined RTO & RPO.

- Define monitoring solutions for database monitoring & alerting to ensure service availability.

- As a database migration architect responsible for defining different migration approaches & patterns according to customer database landscape.

- Provide technical solutions for database migration, create standard operating procedures in line with migration patterns & approach.

- Provide inputs for overall implementation & release plan, lead database migration and ensure migration pre-requisites are met.

- Support the creation of a repository of team's collective knowledge on technology, domain, and process, seek information and leverage knowledge from other projects to drive higher efficiency and effectiveness and to preserve organizational knowledge.

- Support and coach peers and juniors as and when required on specific technical competencies required to deliver on the assigned tasks.

- Involve in Performance Tuning & database Optimization, using various monitoring and troubleshooting tools and native database features., Automation & Security.

- Configured reports using PowerShell to monitor the health check of the SQL servers, job failures, Disk space etc
