The Body Shop India recalibrates prices to woo new consumers
- The Body Shop India has announced a strategic initiative to recalibrate prices on around half of its product portfolio to make the brand more accessible.
- The price recalibration will be around 28-30% downwards on the MRP based on research and analysis of consumer shopping behavior.
- This move is aimed at capturing a larger consumer base, as well as enabling existing consumers to purchase a wider range of products.
- The Body Shop India plans to double its business in India over the next five years, with an increased focus on distribution and aims to have about 300 touchpoints, including shop-n-shops and exclusive branded outlets.

The Body Shop’s suppliers to receive no more than a quarter of £219m owed
- Suppliers of The Body Shop, including small charities, local councils, and cosmetics manufacturers, will receive only about a quarter of the £219m owed to them after the company fell into administration.
- The Body Shop was rescued from administration by a consortium led by Mike Jatania, saving 1,300 jobs.
- The UK arm of The Body Shop was put into administration by Aurelius, resulting in the closure of more than 80 UK stores and job losses.
- Unsecured creditors, including suppliers, will only receive between 16% and 27% of the money owed.
