2024 pass out, 0 tech offers 1 offer from startup
past 7-8 months trying hard to get placed. gave 7 interviews. 3 cleared fully(even got congratulations mail) . Sadly In that 2 are not responding even mc HR not picking call or msg. 1 offer left is non-tech Business Development Associate at a startup in Noida.
- 6 montths internship - 15k + variable ~15k
- ppo with 6-9 LPA
- joining next month(march)
what should i do? Should i wait for another chances in tech or move on with this offer and try while working with the startup.
If i wait another 2-3 months i will be competing with 2025 passouts.
my skills-Java, Springboot-hibernate, APIs, Angular(basic), Azure-DevOps, K8s, Docker, Prom-Grafana stack.

If tech is your long term goal, maybe give it a few more months. But do you think working in BD might help you network into tech roles?

Have you tried getting referrals instead of just applying directly? Might speed things up

I get the frustration with HR ghosting, it sucks...But have you tried reaching out to employees of those companies on LinkedIn for updates?

You're in a tricky spot, but getting three clears shows you're on the right track. If you're confident about landing a tech job soon, waiting could be an option. However, given market uncertainty, taking the startup offer ensures stability while you keep applying and upskilling.
A non-tech role isn’t ideal, but it’s still experience. You can work on side projects, contribute to open-source, or freelance to stay relevant in tech. Plus, switching later from a job is often easier than from unemployment.
Have you explored networking, referrals, or improving your online presence (GitHub, LinkedIn)? That might speed up your tech job search. What’s your gut feeling—do you see a realistic shot at a tech job soon?

Tough spot to be in, but honestly, waiting too long for a tech role could be a gamble, especially with competition from 2025 passouts. If you can handle the startup life and keep your tech skills sharp on the side, it might be worth it. You never know, that experience could give you an edge later on.

Bro, as someone who did a non tech role to keep my career going, I’d say go for it. It’s not ideal, but the work experience matters more in the long run. And with your tech background, you’ll find a way to switch to something techy once you’re settled in. Take the offer, and keep hustling on the side.

I was in the same position last year...waited for a tech job but then took a business role in the meantime. It’s not perfect, but I got the experience and now I’m back in tech after 6 months. Tech jobs will come, but experience is crucial too. Don't let the 2025 batch scare you too much.

yeah, waiting another 2-3 months could put you behind, but a startup job isn’t all bad. Just be clear about where you want to go. If you’re trying to stay in tech, make sure you keep learning and building side projects. Startups can sometimes let you take on multiple roles, and you might end up working with tech after all.

If it’s a solid startup with growth potential, I’d say go for it. You can’t stop your career just because the perfect tech job isn’t happening yet. Take the leap, gain experience, and keep networking. There’s always room to pivot

Same situation here, tried the tech job hunt, but the startup was the best option at the time. Now I’m learning a ton outside my degree. Don’t be afraid to take that first step. Keep your eyes open for future tech roles, and you'll have something more to offer when the time comes..
