Day to Day Office

I’m a 26-year-old woman working in a “modern” (lol) tech company in Gurgaon. Today, I wore a knee-length, sleeveless dress to the office — nothing revealing, just a normal outfit I’d wear outside without thinking twice.

After lunch, my manager called me in and said a “male colleague” had raised concern that my outfit was “too distracting for the work environment.”

I was so stunned. I asked if I violated any dress code — he said, “We don’t have a formal one, but we expect decorum.” Same day, a guy in ripped jeans and flip-flops presented to a client — and no one cared???

But I wear a sleeveless dress and suddenly it’s HR-worthy???

I wasn’t sent home, but he strongly advised me to “dress more modestly” next time.

Let’s be real: this isn’t about professionalism. It’s about men being uncomfortable with women who don’t fit their idea of ‘office wear.’

What century are we in? And why is women’s clothing still a topic of corporate discussion?

Just reached the office, and literally everywhere I look, people are in groups talking about the India-Pak war. Everyone's full of jazba, discussing what they saw on the news last night. The vibe here is giving me chills nobody's really in the mood to work. We are all just glued to updates, wondering what’s going to happen next.

From Deadlines to Headlines

Went to watch Raid 2 with my family yesterday. Movie time was 7 PM. I had a work meeting scheduled at 6… I thought it'll wrap up by 6:30. But nope it stretched and stretched 

I literally had to keep stepping out of the theatre during intervals to attend the call. My wife was super annoyed (and honestly, I don't blame her). She kept saying, “You knew this would happen, toh plan hi kyun kiya movie ka?” And I was just sitting there like… “Bas 30 mins ka kaam tha yaar.”

This is the sad part of corporate sometimes even your family time feels like it’s borrowed. Has anyone else faced something like this?

My manager is a middle aged women in her mid 30s, 
Yesterday we were having our weekly standup call and accidently while ending the call, I said, "Love you" instead of "Thank you".
This forced habit of saying Love you at the end of every call has been put into me by my girlfriend and I never knew I'll end up saying this in a Work call.

My manager hasn't said anything yet to me but I am scared like hell,
What if she complaints to the HR tomorrow😶

Any suggestions, what should I do? Should I apologize?

UPDATE: we talked after 2-3 days and she was very chill about it, we even laughed over it a bit and everything seems fine now. Though she has asked me to meet after office for a cup of coffee today, let’s see what happens🤞

I accidentally said "Love You" at the end of my teams call with my Manager😶

Ever since the Hamas-India-Pak war started, I have a coworker who won't stop talking about the terrorists and Pakistan's film actors each day at work. She follows reporters/actors on Instagram who post live videos and photos and tells everyone about it. I work with her 9 hours per day, 5 days a week. I understand it is horrible and everyone should be aware but I feel this is inappropriate as it obviously brings down employee morale and productivity. 

War is the last thing I want to think about when I'm at work.🤷‍♂️ She has a vested interest in this war which is understandable but this is too much. There are always bad things happening in the world. 

She never mentioned anything about the presentations and client interactions, etc. because she did not have a vested interest in those.

I'm not sure if I should say something or what, I don't want any drama.🤢🤢
