Can someone tell me if this is actually happening?
Are companies really cutting half-day salary just because someone signed in late?
Like… not even a full day missed. Just a delay in login.
Is this the new norm or is it just plain toxic? Feels a bit harsh for a few minutes of being late, no?

my last company did. even if you were late by 1 minute.
even if the the time in biometrics changed exactly at the moment when you got to sign it.
you can only be late twice a month (upto 15 mins) and any additional late means half day salary deduction.
the additional 4 hours after being late are neither considered as overtime nor as half day and you have to work like its a regular day while getting only half pay. literally all the companies are sucking blood off of employees.

there is one such company who used to cut random amount if we are late.. and they never showed us any data for the same..
In the current company, we need to maintain system presence.. and compensate shortage of time within the same month, else need to apply leave..

[stylishjasmine](username) Some companies use biometric + software tracking to the minute. If you're late twice a month, they cut pay. It’s legal theft IMO. No flexibility, no humanity.

[kaamsekaam](username) Yep. Happened to me last month. Logged in 11 mins late (after 10 AM), boom—half day marked. Felt like school detention but with money involved. Absolutely toxic.

No, there's no policy as such (I went through each and every point in their policy book when I joined lol), and even if I'm late, all I had to do is inform my manager (if possible obviously)
