ChatGPT prepped me HARD for my interview!

Spent like two hours on chatgpt yesterday prepping for an interview. First, the usual, copy-pasted my resume and the job description, telling it to "upload this to your memory 'cause we are going to talk about it later". Then I grilled it with questions about stuff I didn't get in the job spec, and chatgpt helped me figure things out. I asked it to list the four or five key things they are looking for in the role. Then I told chatgpt to quiz me with ten questions, one at a time, to help me think about how I have gained experience in those areas. After the ten questions, it gave me strengths/weaknesses and a summary. Finally, I had chatgpt summarize each of my answers into three bullet points. Now have got a list of stories ready to go for any interview. No matter the question, I can steer the convo toward one of these success stories.

Same here, cleared more than 10 job offers. The best thing is to ask follow up questions within an answer in chatgpt. That really helped.

This is exactly what I did and I’ve been very well prepared for my recent interviews. I just did my second interview with a company Monday and I have a third interview with another company in a few weeks, and I feel like everything has been going well. I think people hear chatgpt and think it’s cheating or memorizing AI responses but it’s a great way to come up with a list of stories that can fit any “tell me about a time when…” questions.

[timepasstiwari](username) m one of those people, but more than anything, my fear is that if everyone is using the technology, won’t it be obvious if the answers are the same? Sure, showcasing our experience makes a difference, but the verbiage to get there will be similar. Maybe m overthinking it.

[kartavyakabulava](username) Yeah that’s kind of what m talking about. u absolutely don’t want to use AI to come up with a response that you can repeat verbatim. Instead, you can ask it things like what ques are you likely to see for an interview for a given position. You can input what your response might be for a quest and it can give you feedback and advice. For eg, it might recommend taking something you said and tying it to the job you are interviewing for. Its a great opportunity to practice so that when you get a question in the live interview, your brain will click and you’ll say “ahah, I remember seeing that this question might come up, and if it did I was going to tell the story about this event that happened. Oh, and the AI said I should also include what the outcome of my actions were so the interviewer can understand the impact I have.” It’s about building that comfort and familiarity so you can be confident during the conversation and the interview will be more natural.
