I’ve been actively applying to multiple IT companies every single day through platforms like LinkedIn and Naukri.com. With 3 years and 9 months of experience in the industry, I expected at least some response — but unfortunately, I haven’t received even a single call from a recruiter or HR so far.

It’s disheartening to see how challenging the current situation in the IT sector has become, especially for those of us who are experienced and still eager to grow and contribute.

Can anyone suggest some tips regarding this?

Career Advice

I work in Nagarro as a Software Engineer.
It's been a little more than 2 years since I joined as a fresher. Salary hikes are not impressive. Trash projects, nobody knows where the company is going. I've been working with really bad liars for the past 2 years. Everyone in this company seems to be treating it as their retirement plan because they offer work from home.

I work on python automation POCs and my team is one of those "Agile" ones with no direction. It can be renamed as "Team ADHD". Their plans change every 4 hours and none of them are engineers, they are consultants (manchilds or scammers would be a good word).

I'm also not able to get other job offers, Hardly got 2 interviews after hundreds of applications across multiple platforms. I do see other people getting better roles in better companies. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm attaching *one of my resumes* in case someone wants to help me out.

Salary Discussions, Hike & Promotions

In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me.

I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

It got so bad that a well-known founder tweeted a warning about it.

Every. Single. Time.  Even the job application forms have it as a mandatory field! But when I’ve worked with international clients or companies abroad, they never once asked. It was always about the role, responsibilities, and what they were offering.

Why does it feel like here, your current pay decides your future one? Can someone explain what’s the logic behind this obsession with CTC in India?

After Narayana Murthy’s earlier comment encouraging young professionals to work 70 hours a week Infosys is now reportedly nudging remote employees to stick to a standard 9 to 5 (or 9 to 6) schedule, 5 days a week to “promote work-life balance.”

Not just that  they’re even sending personalised emails to employees who regularly go beyond these hours, with details on remote work days , total hours logged, Avg daily hours even suggestions for breaks & discussions with managers 

Sudden switch or realisation?

Either way m honestly happy to see conversations around healthy working hours finally being taken seriously by big IT players.
