[a deputy manager](username) there are cases where the system gets misused, and yeah, that sucks and for ur info nobdy is supporting that but calling every case of alimony or support "extortion" feels unfair, especially when we are talking about someone who might have sacrificed their career, time, or health to hold a marriage together.

[duskygiraffe](username) When somethn starts feeling one sided or too easy to exploit, but again I don’t think the system was designed to be misused it was meant to be a safety net, especially in situations where one partner (usually the woman, in older dynamics) had to give up opportunities for the sake of the family. That’s where alimony originally came from.

I’ve always believed in true equality, and as a staunch feminist, to me that means standing on equal footing, not expecting special treatment. If a woman is capable of earning and supporting herself, what’s the point of taking alimony?
This isn’t just theory. I say this from personal experience, I recently went through a divorce and chose not to ask for a single penny in alimony. Why? Because my peace mattered more than any payout. I just wanted to walk away from the toxicity, not drag it out for money.
Frankly, I’ve never understood the concept of dowry or alimony in modern times. Both feel rooted in outdated notions of dependency. It’s time we start shifting the conversation from entitlement to empowerment.

You guys don't know the back ground story, this guy wanted divorce to be with his secret lover/affair and his wife shown in this picture want to be with him. It's matter of broken trust by Jayam Ravi. So whatever she demanded is really nice amount because she has to teach him a lesson

It's high time Alimony provisions should be made gender neutral, many women are misusing this to extort money from their partners & the law is limited only to heterosexual couples.
I do believe in alimony being given as a temporary assistance till the affected party can get himself/ herself a job for sustenance post which it should be repaid with a nominal rate of interest & should be tax deductible for the person paying alimony
