How Do I Set Boundaries Around Drinking at Work Events?

I don’t drink, and I really don’t appreciate being pressured to. I’ve communicated this several times, but some colleagues still don’t seem to respect that. I’d rather not join these gatherings anymore....not just because of the drinking, but also because the conversations often get uncomfortable when people are drunk. I’m just looking for a respectful way to set this boundary without making a scene. Any advice?

Just say - I have been advised by my doctor to stay off alcohol due to health concerns. Appreciate your understanding! It has always worked for me. Try and let me know..

Be firm and respectful. Because once you let them make you drink, they use that as precedence to force you to drink later on again.

Why not try owning it? You could say, “I don’t drink, and I’m perfectly happy with that. I enjoy the company of everyone, but I’ll be sipping on something non alcoholic.” It's not rude...just setting the tone clearly
