Day to Day Office
1mo
Is this even allowed? How am I supposed to react to this? Should I go and meet him?
Got this text from my boss this afternoon and he is requesting me to meet at a cafe after work hours.
I always had shady vibes from him that is why I am not sure if it is safe to meet him alone outside office.

I wonder if all confidential projects in the company are discussed in Cafe???
Also, the tomorrow was like there is no day after tomorrow or Monday :D

[innocentmalai](username) update: I had the meeting with him last friday, and it went pretty smooth. He did try to hit on me or flirt with me at times verbally, but I was to shrug it off as a joke and yay, I am leading the project finally!

if you have someone to accompany you, do that.
If they are free, it can be your parents—better 2 than one. Ask them[parents] to enter separately and sit at another table, but keep each other in your view. That way, when your talk is done, you can signal them to call you, or you can end the meeting by saying that you had plans with your parents and family, and you have to leave as you are already running late. While you are very grateful for this opportunity, you simply must leave right now!

[courageoussangria](username) hey that's very unique idea, thank you so much for this! My parents are in my hometown, but I can surely ask a few of my frnds to be there with me. Thanks a lot once again, it seems like you have had a similar experience in past, that's why you have the experience of dealing with such creeps.

Nope, does not make sense logically. Don't go. Once you meet him outside of the office, outside of the office hours, even your company can't help you.

Hey you’re right to question this your instincts are valid, and your safety and comfort should come first. If something feels off, it probably is. No project is so confidential it can’t be discussed in a professional setting during work hours. You have every right to set boundaries, especially when the request comes from someone in a position of power. If you're unsure, consider informing HR or bringing a colleague along if you feel pressured to go. But remember, 'No' is a complete sentence. Trust yourself.

Oh sure, because all "performance reviews" happen at cafes after 7 PM... 🤨

[brightstrawberry](username) Maybe he just prefers informal settings for catch-ups. Some managers are more relaxed that way give it a chance, but on your terms. Har bat ko negative kyu bana lete ho?

Make sure that you have turned on voice recording / video recording before such meetings. And do not eat or drink anything. Even so it is not advisable to have such meetings outside office. You may get or may not get the project. Or there may not be any project and the manager might want to simply harass you. Someone else from work might see that you met your manager in a cafe outside working hours and report this in office and make it a big issue.
