I'm keeping this anonymous because I don’t want to disclose it in real life. After two years without a raise, I successfully negotiated a 100% increase at my current company. I focused on creating significant value and worked in cross-functional teams to learn as much as possible. There were times when I was overworked, but it was all worthwhile. I was confident that it was a mutually beneficial situation.

My advice would be to choose your job wisely, create value in the right place, and don't be afraid to negotiate.

Day to Day Office

I don’t drink, and I really don’t appreciate being pressured to. I’ve communicated this several times, but some colleagues still don’t seem to respect that.
I’d rather not join these gatherings anymore....not just because of the drinking, but also because the conversations often get uncomfortable when people are drunk.
I’m just looking for a respectful way to set this boundary without making a scene. Any advice?

I'm a big introvert, so being around people for too long makes me super tired. All I want to do is read or watch something when I'm not working. I always thought being a computer person would be more of a me and my screens in a dark room kind of thing, you know? That's partly why I even studied this stuff!

Honestly, sometimes I just want to eat my sandwich in peace. My mom always told us not to talk while eating, like you might choke. Makes sense to me! So why's lunchtime this big talk fest?

And get this , I'm trying to eat healthier, smaller portions and stuff, right? And this one older guy at work always has something to say about my food. like, can't he just leave me alone to eat my little bit of lunch? I just wanna do my job and get my paycheck. I don't really care about chatting about politics or what everyone did on my food break.

Career Advice

Hi guys, hope yall are doing well and good. I will be getting straight to point. I am a BCA Final year student and though i know solid basics for web development, our college placements didn't bring many tech/IT opportunities. I gave interviews and got selected in a Real Estate developing group as a "Senior Executive- CRM" in ghaziabad. Although i do want to make a career in IT... here i am using a leasing software, in which we are handling invoicing, leasing(Brand details, sales details for a mall this group made) etc. I have around 2-3 months max before i graduate. How should i take things forward given that i want to go into IT. I know that i have to learn a lot in development and get better but still please provide me some advice. Thank you everyone! Cheers!

Career Growth

I'm currently working in an OEM, mainly involved in Adaptive AUTOSAR with a focus on R&D and requirement-related tasks, but with limited hands-on coding. I’m planning to transition to a software developer role and have started strengthening my C++ and Data Structures & Algorithms skills.

I'm also interested in moving to a product-based company. Continuing in Adaptive AUTOSAR will mostly limit me to the automotive domain. Can I still get into a product-based company by staying in this domain, or is it better to shift to another area like backend development or core software engineering?

Can I continue in Adaptive AUTOSAR and still grow in my career, or would it be better to move to another domain for broader opportunities?

What would be the best path to take, and what skills or experience should I focus on to make this switch successfully? Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

Career Advice: Switching from Adaptive AUTOSAR to Software Development Role

My current CTC in Accenture is 9 LPA(7.68 fixed + Variable) for 5.10 years of experience as a SAP ABAP developer. Now I got offer from 3 top Consulting firms.

1. Company - EY GDS
    First offer - 12.20 LPA Fixed
    Revised offer - 16.80 LPA fixed
    Location - Noida

2. Company  - KPMG 
     Offer - 15 LPA ( 12.75 fixed + Variable)
      Location - Gurgaon 

3. Company  - IBM
     Offer - 18 LPA ( 16.20 fixed + Variable)
     Location - Gurgaon 

In which company I should go? And what should be the expected CTC for 5.10 years of experience ABAP Consultant. I have not asked IBM and KPMG for counter offer yet what ctc should I ask ??
