Mind Blown: Asked for 26 LPA, Company Offered 30 LPA + Fully Remote!
Hey everyone,
Experiencing something new in my job search and could use some collective wisdom!
Quick background: I'm a Product Owner, 9 years in, currently hybrid at 18.5 LPA (17.6 fixed). I was interviewing for another hybrid role and felt 26 LPA was a reasonable ask (it was for Pune, I'm currently in Ahmedabad). I had two rounds of interviews, and they felt really good, especially the second one.
Fast forward to the offer stage... they offered me 30 LPA CTC, fully remote!
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled! But also scratching my head a bit. Why offer 4 lakhs above my asking price?
* Did I lowball myself that much?
* Are their internal pay scales just that high for the role/level?
* Was my interview performance that strong?
* Trying to preempt a counteroffer situation?
Has anyone, especially recruiters, ever seen this happen? What are the likely reasons a company goes significantly above the candidate's ask? Would love to hear your theories or experiences!

same happened with me , I applied for an internship role for a DevOps position on wellfound and my ask was of 50K/Month.
They took 4 interview of mine and in the HR round they offered me full time with 10 LPA .
May be the CEO was so impressed with my skills.. 😀😀

Pay parity, some companies do follow it diligently. You might have found a great employer.

Seems like you got lucky, plus 30LPA for 9 YOE is decent for your job profile giving the current market.

Hearty congrats on your offer. I'm learning to break into Product Management, I'm a Data Analyst as of now. Can we discuss over DM on the same, if it's fine with you?!

It's most likely because that's the median/average pay for the role touve applied for in that org. It is not unusual, but also not common at the same time.
I have had friends who have made jumps from 15LPA to 30 LPA. One jumped from 40LPA to 75LPA (Includes 15L of ESOPs, but still😅)

[passionateelephant](username) 3 YOE pe 8-10 LPA is good. No need to be jealous. You will have a higher package than us when you complete 9 YOE.

I think the only reason might be that's their base salary for your experience and role you are joining for. They have to give you that minimum. Once you join and see what your peers get, you might feel different. But I'd still say enjoy it don't let that ruin your happiness.
