Need Advice on CTC Negotiation
Hi All,
I have 14 years of work experience with 10+ years in cloud platforms. I'm a Solution Architect and currently getting paid 42 LPA (includes 10% variable pay) and it's been 3 years since I joined NTT. Hike in the last 2 years hovered around 3-4%. I'm currently halfway through the interview process with Wipro, Accenture and a 5-year old Startup for Senior Solution Architect and Director roles. In every HR conversation, I have said anything around 52 - 56 LPA is good enough. What is a good number that I can close out with during salary discussion? HRs from both Wipro and Accenture said there'll be variable pay and the startup company HR said it's all fixed. Please share your thoughts and ideas.
Update: I have cleared Wipro and submitted my payslips and hike letters a week ago. HR hasn't comeback for salary discussion yet. Startup too, I have cleared, but dropped it because the expectation is to work from 4 PM to 1 AM focusing on US. Accenture, I'm waiting for the final round.

be clear on performance bonus metrics, sometimes variable pay is hard to get.

i’d ask for 55 - 60L and be ready to negotiate down a bit. don’t sell yourself short.

14 saal ka experience hai toh 56 lpa bilkul banta hai. baki wipro or accenture me toh variable ka matlab hota hai kabhi milega, kabhi nahi

[a team lead](username) Variable pay is the concern for me. I'm looking for at least 50L as fixed pay.

try asking “What’s the best offer you can do?” and negotiate from there.

[nerdyyy](username) Yeah. I have tried that before. Most HRs don't open up that easy about the range. So I usually go for anything between 30 to 50% hike depending on demand.

Try for product based instead of service.

[miraaj](username) I'm trying so hard. But I'm getting recruiter calls only from service based companies. 😞

Just say expected salary as "As per market", Don't give numbers . Let them offer you something .. then start negotiations. When they create a position for you , its difficult for them to loose you for few lakhs. But this is applicable for product companies mostly. Service Companies can pay you that if you are hired by client directly and have unique skills.

NTT me itne saal nikal diye bina major hike ke aur ab Wipro aur Accenture se high hopes ... waha toh HR ke alag hi calculation chalti hai

[misterjdpuri](username) I don't have much hope with both Wipro and Accenture. Both are cheap when it comes to CTC and Salary negotiations. The startup looks very promising.

if startup is flexible and fixed, that might give you better financial security.

[gyaandevta](username) Financially startup seems the best option so far. My final round is in 4 days. The role is also 100% remote with flexible work timings. On the other hand with Wipro and Accenture, WFO for 3 days/week is mandatory.

[thandichai](username) In October 2020, I left a product company after spending 5 years there. Then unfortunately I made 2 jumps in 16 months.
1. Left due to poor role and unclear responsibilities.
2. I left due to bad work culture and extreme pressure.
3. Finally I joined NTT in March 2022. So, for stability reasons, I'm decided to stay at NTT for 3 years and didn't care about hikes too.
