Salary and Offer Discussion

Hello guys, I am a Data Engineer with 3 yoe. Current CTC - 14 LPA 10.8 - Fixed 1.2 - Variable 2 - Retention bonus (Till October) I have been looking for a better opportunity and I recently got an offer from a company with the CTC of 16LPA - 15 +1 variable. If I leave my current company I will have to pay 2 lakh back which I dont have honestly and the other company is not willing to pay for it. They agreed to buy out my notice period though. I also know that my current company won’t be able to match this CTC. Also, I want to know is this offer worth going for? Since January, I have got like 40+ calls but as soon as they listen to my notice period they hang up. I gave interviews for 10 companies got 1 offer, got rejected by 3 and got ghosted by 6 after the interview process. Now, I really want to make a switch and get an offer within a range of 18-20 LPA. I have good problem solving skills and communication though. Can I get this much hike based on my yoe? Help!!!

Looks like you are underpaid for 3 YOE Yes but if that 2 lakh retention bonus is holding you back financially and this 16 LPA offer is all you have got right now its not a bad idea to take it. Make the switch, settle and once things are stable, aim for a better role and package in a year or so. I think that will be better decision

Honestly bro, 16L is kinda meh for 3 yoe and your skillset. With strong DSA + good projects, you can easily target 18–20L in product companies. Don’t settle yet!
