Thrown out of the office

I recently resigned from my current company after working there for over 3 years. They countered with a 70% hike, which was quite generous, but I had already received better offers with over a 100% hike, so I respectfully declined. Unfortunately, that didn’t go down well. They asked me to leave the same day I submitted my resignation, confiscated my laptop and revoked email access immediately. I wasn’t even given a chance to say goodbye to anyone—it all happened so abruptly, it was genuinely shocking. Now, even though I’m no longer working or contributing, they still expect me to serve the full 60-day notice. I’m trying to negotiate that, because otherwise I’ll just be sitting at home for the next 30 days without work or pay. It’s been a lot to process. I can’t help but wonder—does this happen to others too, or is it just me? Feeling pretty messed up right now.

Are they paying you salary for the next 30 days. If yes then you are in problem. If not then you can join the other company. Explain the issue to them. Make sure that you are not paid by both companies. Else you will have dual PF entries and have trouble resolving it.

From what I understand, they’ve taken away your laptop, email, chat, access card, and even biometric access. If that’s the case, you should still go to the office every day. Just sit there and do nothing. In a couple of days, people will start noticing and might ask you out of curiosity. Since you’re free anyway, just tell them your story. Word will spread..
