TIME TO DITCH ZOMATO/ SWIGGY? JUST FOR PLATFORM FEE? THERE'S MORE TO DIG! IT WILL SHOCK YOU!!
How is Zomato is going profitable? Reasons: - Increasing Take Rates (Commission) on Restaurants: Yes, they hiked Take rates in 2023 by upto 2-5% restaurant-2-restaurant basis, improving their margins and spoiling restaurant's business. And now to fool restaurants they have added a new format, distance based take rates. The more the delivery distance, the more the take rate. But the question is, are their own Delivery partners getting benefitted from this? - Double Standard of Deepinder Goyal's: He wants restaurants to not hike menu prices on Zomato and keep parity (equality) with restaurant's own offline prices, but hikes restaurant commision rates when restaurants do not listen to him and still increase prices on their online menu. This inturn again increases Zomato's commission margins, with per rupee of hike in online menu prices by restaurants + hike in restaurant take rates by Zomato. MORE IN COMMENTS.....

- Introduction of Platform fee and increasing it: The introduction of Platform fee at Rs2/order and now hiked to Rs10/order during Diwali, has a good share to make Zomato profitable. That is a 400% hike. - Silent cost-cutting: Our dear Delivery Guy turned Founder, has silently removed/fired employees with higher salaries and hired people with lower salaries at lower to mid to upper management. :) This growth is coming at cost harassment caused to restaurants, delivery partners, customers & own employees. :)

Zomato needs to find a sweet spot between making money and keeping restaurants happy. Restaurants are a big part of Zomato's success, so it's important to maintain good relationships with them.

yar agar delivery distance ke hisaab se take rates badh rahe hain, toh delivery partners ko bhi isse faida milna chahiye. Lekin, kya yeh unki earnings ko bhi impact kar raha hai, yeh dekhna zaroori hai.

We need to ACTUALLY take away orders rather than opting for online delivery. This will help restaurants keep money with them, and will also stop online delivery apps from exploitation of delivery partners, who will take up other better / other gig work, like grocery, medicines, deliver parcels/couriers.

Also what is the point of platform fees in Zomato and swiggy? Now a days it's festive platform fees!! Also in swiggy, if one opts for eco save delivery (thru electric bikes), it says 5/- off in next delivery. Is it really so? Never experienced that!!
