Day to Day Office

Not even asking for a promotion or raise ,  just a basic compliment.
Did a hellish product launch. Pulled late nights. Client was thrilled.
Manager’s only comment: “Cool, let’s prep for next sprint.”

Why is it so hard to get acknowledged at work?
A “well done” costs nothing. A “this helped us a lot” takes 5 seconds.

Sometimes I think they worry we’ll start expecting more if they say anything nice.
But honestly? We already do more. Some recognition might just make us want to stay.

Anyone else feel this way or have managers who actually appreciate your work out loud?

Why Are So Many Managers Afraid of Saying ‘Good Job’?

Ever since the Hamas-India-Pak war started, I have a coworker who won't stop talking about the terrorists and Pakistan's film actors each day at work. She follows reporters/actors on Instagram who post live videos and photos and tells everyone about it. I work with her 9 hours per day, 5 days a week. I understand it is horrible and everyone should be aware but I feel this is inappropriate as it obviously brings down employee morale and productivity. 

War is the last thing I want to think about when I'm at work.🤷‍♂️ She has a vested interest in this war which is understandable but this is too much. There are always bad things happening in the world. 

She never mentioned anything about the presentations and client interactions, etc. because she did not have a vested interest in those.

I'm not sure if I should say something or what, I don't want any drama.🤢🤢

What’s the biggest office politics lesson you’ve learnt?

My manager is a middle aged women in her mid 30s, 
Yesterday we were having our weekly standup call and accidently while ending the call, I said, "Love you" instead of "Thank you".
This forced habit of saying Love you at the end of every call has been put into me by my girlfriend and I never knew I'll end up saying this in a Work call.

My manager hasn't said anything yet to me but I am scared like hell,
What if she complaints to the HR tomorrow😶

Any suggestions, what should I do? Should I apologize?

UPDATE: we talked after 2-3 days and she was very chill about it, we even laughed over it a bit and everything seems fine now. Though she has asked me to meet after office for a cup of coffee today, let’s see what happens🤞

I accidentally said "Love You" at the end of my teams call with my Manager😶

So I had this daily habit of coming to office, unpacking my bag and then going for a smoke first thing in the morning.
Only after having a "choti advance" I could start my work.

But recently, I quit smoking (multiple personal reasons behind that), but now I have nothing to do in morning.

I mean I have this habit of going for a small break before starting my work, but now I don't have anywhere to go.
Even going downstairs for a break is risky because I might end up smoking.

So, now here I am, sitting on a Monday morning, 
trying to focus on work, but craving for a smoke already!

I quit cigarettes and now I can't focus in Office!

Career Advice

I know that we shouldn't be reliant on emotions to make decisions, but I wanted to get out of mind games, politics, people not justifying their role, bad hike, working in shifts, wasted a year on administrating old tools. Which has no mark in industry

My family is not dependent on my paycheck, I asked if they can shelter me for the coming months,while i learn again and apply for the technology i previously worked on the 1st project (PySpark).

How bad is this decision in terms of market situation, currently I've got 4 yoe
