Work Friends Aren’t Real Friends?

I worked with some amazing people for 6 years...vacations, deep talks, and real bonds. I tried to be a caring manager and genuinely loved that team. But ever since I left the company 3 months ago… silence. No messages, no check-ins. Maybe it’s because I was their boss. Maybe I’m overthinking. But it hurts. At my new job, I’ve told myself not to get too attached. Because I’ve learned, work friends are often just that… friends only at work. Once you leave, it’s like you never existed. what are your views...any advice?

ddon’t shut yourself off at the new job. People change. Some work friends do become life friends. Just be a little guarded.

work friends are real… but sometimes they're just season 1 characters in your story. doesn't mean it wasn’t real when it lasted.

Totally get u been thru the same. It hits diff when ppl u vibed with just go silent. Work bonds can feel real but often fade outside that bubble. Doesn’t mean they weren’t genuine, just time/place friends maybe. Still, don’t stop being you

Indeed, your friends at work are your friend's until you leave the organisation. After that no one genuinely cares or ever looks back again, no need to overthink. This is how it is.
