Working Next to a Drunk Senior

i have been dealing with something at work thats really bothering me. theres a senior colleague who sits right next to me and every day after lunch he comes back clearly drunk.. red eyes, smelling of alcohol. i am 99% sure hes drinking during his break. I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares but I do and honestly it’s not right. we are supposed to be in a professional environment, and this breaks all the rules but here’s the thing hes my senior and i am scared that if I say anything it will blow back on me. i dont want to get on bad terms with him. do i just keep quiet and let this slide? because by not speaking up am I just enabling bad behavior? or do i risk everything and report it?

Has he misbehaved with you? I don’t think he will be bothering anyone, i have worked with 1 Senior who used to drink in lunch break but after break he used to focus and code and mind his own work. He was very nice guy though, never bothered anyone, later on I got to know he is going through a divorce case. Infact my director of engineering was also aware about this but she was pretty chill with him.

I understood your situation. But the question is will you be able to move away from that seating and do your work without problem. If he is doing this maybe he is going through something that is far worse. That he is ready to risk his career. Try to move away and do your work. If not talk to the HR.

Not sure why your manager hasn't taken notice of this. Inform them, don't complain. Bas chugali karni hai baki dekho kya hota hai. Aur mujhe nhi pata tha itne bewde hai industry mei, BC hum bhi party karte hai but workplace mei insab se door rehna common sense hai.
