Zomato just fired 600 people đ¤ˇââď¸told to "leave with a smile"
Imagine showing up to work one day and being told youâre out no warning, no heads-up, just âleave with a smile.â Thatâs what happened to 600 Zomato employees from their customer service team. The reason? Their AI, Nugget, now handles 80% of queries.
I understand that automation is the future, but this is brutal.đ Shouldnât companies at least handle layoffs with some basic decency?

I get that AI is the future, but whereâs the balance between tech innovation and caring for employees
this kind of mass firing without any notice seems pretty harsh.

If you have not noticed these guys have given away 99% equity in 10 years. They could have waited for years to build sustainable businesses with more stakes. Of course, they were here for the big and quick bag, which they have made. Expecting empathy from such people would be a fool of the highest order. Just go in for the money, and leave as soon as you have made it.

Zomato is super greedy. That everyone knows. Specifically from their IPO. But what about the people. They need to handle situations. See EU people how they are reacting united against the firms tried to screw them. Similarly you can see in Korea, China, Japan, etc. Except India. Indians are super reluctant till that issue touches them. They can boycott or do whatever with Zomato. But nobody gives a damn.

AI isnât the problem, how companies implement it is. The real challenge is integrating tech without discarding talent.

It's fascinating yet concerning to see how quickly automation is reshaping the workforce landscape. I wonder how these transitions can be managed more humanely, especially for those affected. What are your thoughts on how companies can better support employees during such changes?
