Apart from the extensive and career-building training I received at Cisco Systems from Cisco-certified trainers, I got to meet and work with some of the creme de la creme of people from similar industries and positions as I was. I have no complaints about the job security at Cisco - works the same as every other transnational corporation operating in India. The more people you know personally, the more secure your job is. Career growth is not as great as one would expect to be but the appraisals, salaries, job perks, and work incentives are great working at Cisco. The work culture here is second to none. It is like finding water after wandering for weeks in the desert. I cannot think of another workplace in Bangalore, India with such brilliant work culture. If you are looking to work in a place where employees are treated equally across all spectrum, Cisco is the place to be.

Dislikes

Cisco takes ages to convert employees to work on their payrolls. Despite the work effort, diligence, and adherence to work and HR policies, exceptional performance at work, Cisco does not make the effort to convert employees easily. Another downside to working at Cisco is - you do not always get to work at Cisco. They make you work for Cisco sometimes. This is the most annoying bit where you have to work from different locations - although within the city - but the change in work location, shit timings, and facilities does a lot of harm to the work-life balance that was once available at Cisco.

Work

It's the best - long as you work in Cisco, not for Cisco.

Cisco has good pay scales, policies and flexible work timings

Dislikes

Cisco is nothing more than a brand name .
Leadership is horribly weak. Very frequent restructuring across business units which enforces change in direction of work and as well creates disturbance in work life balance
Leaders dont have practical visions.
My company was acquired by cisco in 2010 and then in 2017 they sold it out. When Cisco bought it , it was a profitable organisation with happy employees but things have deteriorated with time . We lost many people. Attrition rate is huge. There is 0 job security. I would not advice to join this organisation.

Overall its not an employee friendly organisation . Layoffs are the most consistent culture of CISCO. Everyone understand technology changes and people need to up skill themselves . Instead of providing ways to up skill Cisco just asks people to leave.

The team that i worked with was awesome. There are 2 teams that one can jump into other than being in Frontline. But even though you grow within sts, there is not much that can be expected for salary hike. It is always in single digit even though you are the top performer

Dislikes

As of now, all tenured leads have left the company and the ones that are working there do a lot of profits. So if you are their favorite you get to be as you want. And the salary package that they offer you to the max is 2.5lpa as a fresher and one you are in the company and reach about 4lpa, they won't increase it further

Work

Work was awesome as i moved to level 2. But I'm Frontline you can only survive if you are a favorite of any lead. Cab is not free if you are a guy or if you are in day shift

What I like working through Synophic is that I am working in Cisco and they provide work from option and Cab facility.

Dislikes

1. Lots and lots of deductions
2. No career growth and no place for your suggestions
3. Lots of politics. You will b popular for disgusting rumours
4. Have to be expert in buttering
5. No professional environment around
6. Poor work-life balance. People have all rights to interfere in your personal life
7. You work will not be recognized until you butter the top most gossip queen/king.

Work

Was ok to work because of facilities only. But the environment is not meant for career growth. Just for time pass and brand

Teammates are friendly and very professional, find your path inside the Cisco world depending on your interest. There are lots of options and learning opportunities. Excellent campus and if you are from a startup you need to slow your work down ( Hope you get it ). Personal commitments are given equal importance to work and it is easy to balance it out. There is no need to worry about timings and reporting to manager everyday.

Dislikes

Nothing much really , try to involve in everything else you will be stuck in a routine day in day out work. Talk to as many teams else you might face a problem if any layoffs.

Work

I am happy.

1. The training provided at Cisco is top notch.
2. The work-life balance is great. Nobody is bound to follow strict timings.
3. The compensation and company policies are aligned as per the benefits of the employees.

Dislikes

1. Employees at Cisco are highly vulnerable to get fired any given day.
2. Cisco might suddenly sell off a particular BU to a service based company without giving proper compensation.

Work

The work was quality work, mostly coding and understanding the logic. It was not about same mundane routine debugging tasks.

The best thing about cisco systems India is that the work- life balance is amazing here. Apart from that we are surrounded by talanted colleagues who are always there to help us. The work pressure is manageable and unlike what is portrayed for IT companies.

Dislikes

Sometime some projects run quite slow and it leads to waste of resource and time.

Work

As per my experience the work varies. So sometimes we get exciting and challenging work like exploring for new features to make user experience simple and sometimes it's just a simple excel editing.

Good campus with many fascilities like multiple cafeterias, gym, sports etc. Flexible timing is also good.

Dislikes

Lack of maturity and honesty in leadership. Bias and discrimination towards people from North India. Leadership is so weak and insecure that they can't digest anyone giving an opinion which is not in line with theirs.

Work

Honestly work is only good as long as you know your leadership is honestly going to calibrate your contributions. So, it was horrible experience in Cisco Systems, Bangalore.

I started as a fresher in Cisco and the good about Cisco is the respect for individuals not only from peers but from immediate managers and higher management.

Dislikes

I guess training the new batch can be done in a better way. Also, individuals who are special should get an opportunity to work onsite.

Work

I work as a java backend developer in Cisco from 6 years. I belong to the Services department of Cisco and responsible to develop products which are network specific

Good Work Life balance, Facilities, Employee oriented

Dislikes

Laid back attitude, Do not believe in innovation and R&D but acquisitions, most projects are doing sustenance work, legacy code/products, Hardly any good work, Limited feature development (90% maintenance + 10% features). Move on soon enough if you want to grow, as it gets difficult once you are in a comfort zone
