The most jarring on nerves was the absence of norms related to recruitment of employees and salaries. The more experienced and skilled an employee is the lesser salary he will get especially if he is now an old employee. No norms observed related to seniority-juniority with respect to salary fixation. An MBBS level doctor who has done some fellowship, say, masters in emergency medicine of post graduate diploma in clinical cardiology is getting salaries between 1.5 to 1.8 lacs while a surgeon, with properly obtained M.S. degree and a wide experience is hardly getting 1.10 on the same post of Attending Consultant.
Salaries are disbursed once in two months.
Appraisal only twice in a span of about 4.5 years.
No development of skills. An Attending Consultant will continue as non-operating surgeon.
