The senior team talk a lot about Health and safety but sadly the reality is that manager GMMs are still asking technicians to undertake jobs that breach their own policy. over and above work is not recognised andd previous experience from other companies is not recognised. in my case I am a former CEO and capable of so much more that the roles I supported and was not recognised as a potential manager for that. I have since left after being treated badly over an over payment issue which is now with the unions to support me with. i would never work for TM again.

Dislikes

training poor, appraisal poor as we are reliant on our managers for references and the questions are structured to indicate if we have had their support. if we dont tick this box it is felt down the line. Career growth very limited seems very clicky at the top seem almost afraid to bring people in that are innovative.

Work

can be very samely often spoken too very badly by retail who have no understanding of our work load

Career growth is nill. Active development is rare but I was fortunate enough to get of 2 years of constant development work. Co operation between teams is very bad, and it takes too long for new features to reach the customers. Work timings is strictly 12:30pm to 9:30pm so that we match store operating hours in the UK, which is very bad for your work life balance. Not worth working for in the long term.

Dislikes

Work timings and slow progress in career.

Work

Genuinely not worth working for. Most teams have repetitive, mundane tasks which has already killed their career. 90% of the managers are within Tesco from the past 10 years and they have very little outside knowledge.

Tesco Environment is nice, team mates are good, about training they didn't gave any training I only learned by looking at manuals, no career growth only Tesco stores stds no use of civil engineering, salary was good
Politics in team specially managers, girls.
Managers and leads need only their work to be done and they are happy.. they don't know how much stress on us

Dislikes

I dislike about managers hiring only girls, full of politics

Work

Hectic pressure from U.K. Colleagues as well as senior leads makes same work again and again without any proper knowledge

Tesco values and work culture is a motivator to excel in the job. They strive to maintain employee engagement well. Respect for talent and experience is the key.

Dislikes

I think, the focus should shift towards retaining talent workforce. Little things could add value to middle level employees. The benefits withdrawn like free meal, transport and shift allowance has hurted majority of the crowd who earn less than 5 lakh in a year.

It was great experience work in the shop floor. I was able to learn the technical procedure behind the shop floor. Job satisfaction comes when we get credit from the customer directly when we serve them at the till. Overall I was able to learn inside n outside the shop floor. Though this was my second retail experience, I was able to learn more at Tesco. They even provide various work shops to develop skills.

Dislikes

There is nothing like that. I was fully satisfied n enjoyed working for Tesco.

It's really good if you see from work life balance, job security, even from learning point of view.. But it's not upto the mark with compensation part..

Dislikes

Compensation is not good..

Work

Work life balance we can say best in the segment.. As I have mentioned already compensation is the main difference issue here.. And everything else runs smooth..

It is a great place to work. Colleagues are very helpful. There are plenty of opportunities for an individual to grow within the organization. Work timings are the best. Also, having a cab service is such a relief. And btw, Tesco has an amazing campus!! :D (I would put it in the same category as Google or Facebook)

Dislikes

Like any other company out there, there exists some organizational politics here.

Tesco is an amazing place to work. One major motivating factor is the work culture & the ever enthusiastic leadership team. Trainings & learning opportunities available for colleagues are tremendous. Overall my experience at Tesco has been excellent.

Dislikes

Though there is lot of emphasis on career growth, path is not convincing. If the career paths are well defined then the junior colleagues would be well motivated.
