I have worked with Wipro for 8 years. good in terms of facilities and workplace safety, amenities. Providing onsite opportunities once in a while for real talents. and really good at providing opportunities for employees to upgrade there skills by providing ample programs for learning new technologies or sharpening skills. Regular training programs in different technologies and soft skills all round the year.
There are so many things that are not happening correct, things have become worst after the previous CEO change. The worst thing that happened was introduction of a policy called band inertia, which means if you are in a band for more than 5 years without progression to next band, you face the risk of being fired. More than 70% of experienced work force I believe fall in this category, because in spite of working hard and receiving numerous client appreciations and working on multiple projects(under flex program) still people are denied progression, the reason is there is a limit of 3 or 4 people maximum in a pool of 150-250 people and even lesser than that for higher bands. this caused mass panic in the company and there was about 35% attrition in my area of technology and similar attrition overall about a year back, when I too had to jump to a better company, for 2 reasons, 1 being very low salary even after 8 years and 2 fear of band inertia, inspite of working on multiple projects.
most of the 8 years I was in wipro I was onsite and once I returned to offshore and couldn't see any onsites in the near future, I realized that my offshore pay was pathetic, like i was making 5.9 lacs(my joining salary was 2.75 lacs) with 8+ years experience.Once i gave interviews i was able to grab 4 offers with the highest being 150% higher than my current pay. which means you are not given reasonable increments inspire of working hard.
another worst thing is they don't want to know how good your work, but you have to be 9.5 hours inside the company gates 5 days a week and 8.3 hours inside the development center(ODC) doors(this was brought about after the new CEO came), this makes us feel more like school children or slaves rather than MNC employees.
They make you work for 2 to 3 projects at a time and also make us work late nights and weekends(for which we get compensatory off which we can rarely make use of)
and many more to write about even at onsite, but no space here!!!
The marketplace is very fluid so is the work atmosphere at Wipro. Career management is one's prerogative, and I think no company manages it well though they boast of the process. The job security is as good as the work orders from the customers. Always bottom 10% are identified and this criterion is very subjective. The jobs at the lower level are easy to define, but the job description is very fluid; however, the financial targets are defined crisply. The support from the executive management is so-so. As the structure is very thin at the top-most layers, it is better one doesn't talk about the work they do. They are mere aggregators of the financial numbers. Except for a few leaders, the rest is junk. They can be assigned any role. I don't see the passion for any technology with the senior management except for the numbers. Nobody explains how these targets are arrived at in the first place. They are just brutal in tracking these, but when it comes to allocation of material or personal resources for making one a successful person is a million dollar question. It is a Bangalore centric company. The leadership elsewhere will be wiped out during each appraisal cycle. The executive leadership says if you want to grow squat around me at Bangalore. This crowd is least understood remote functioning, empowering the executive leadership. The executive leadership decisions are very subjective and lack longterm vision. I haven't seen people working there till their retirement except for a few handfuls. That itself speaks volumes about this company.
-- No transparent career management; it is mostly individual driven.
-- It is not a collaborative company
-- Executive leadership is short-term driven, quarter on quarter at best.
-- No recognition for technical achievements
-- No proper support for making an individual successful in his own right
-- Subjective elimination of the team
-- HR and executive management work hand in hand which is an anathema for the team
-- Less salary, lesser hike and a fewer promotions
I was really good at my job. It is because of this I could go on and on for almost 17 years there. However, my journey was cut short due to lack of product management talent at Wipro. At the senior leadership level, it is all number driven. There is no re
Training and learning were top notch. Work pressure was manageable mostly. Was appreciated many times by clients. Managers and colleagues were supportive. Most of the people around were nice. Job security was always there. Obviously salary was on time. Minimal politics. Was free to innovate in exchange for results. Trust of Wipro brand. Arranged and participated in various cultural activities, outings and celebrations.
Many times they train you for something and give you a project with a whole other technology. Work pressure was occasionally very high as I was on client location. Appreciation's were nowhere visible in salary increments.
As it was my first job it was full of learning and new experiences. I was in a banking project hence there was a constant high-low in work pressure. I really enjoyed my time there. Overall Wipro is an ideal option for those who are starting their career.
I started my carrier in Xerox project in EC Bangalore.I made my dearest friends during the same time.Campus was very vibrant and the project too supported young thoughts.
Wipro had this internal certifications which were of very less use.Instead of supporting external certifications, Wipro had been sticking on to the internal certification very strictly which as per me had very little value add to my resume. For example If intsead of strongly asking the associate to complete MILK in testing , if they asked to take ISTQB that would add more value to resumes. May be this might have changed now, but i disliked this the most during my tenure in Wipro tech.(2006-2010)
Compensation had not been good when I compared myself to my classmates who got placed in other companies(TCS/CTS).
I was working for the project Toshiba in Wipro Technologies when I resigned and moved on another company.
absolutely nothing.worthless practices, management has no vision and top leadership is absolutely clueless about what to do.even a person at general manager level will keep chewing tobacco and keep sending worthless formats to fill and make managers work like administrative staff or even worse. they demand respect for no reason and threaten to fire people all the time.higher ups have no respect whatsoever for human emotions and insult people left right and centre and make people work like slaves. condescending remarks and making people lose their self esteem is the motto of WIPRO lighting.
see above.totally shit job and equally shit people. my advice: please hang yourself if you decide to join this company. maybe you will land in heaven but if you join you sure will go to HELL
Almost everything in Wipro needs revamp . Compensation is one of the lowest that you can get in industry . Hikes are not proportional to Performance . Too much favoritism . L2 Managers have no connect with Project or Employee and are often the one who reduce your Rating on one or the other flimsy grounds .
May be once you have 8-9 yrs experience , you can think of joining wipro as managers and sit there like semi govt. job much like TCS . However it is the worst place to start your career becaz you will start lagging behind your peers in the industry in growth and salary .
Its So n So, nothing too exciting . Majority of projects are AMS , you don't get good development project opportunity .
The company is excellent and I satisfied with my work because I learning many new things and technology . When I joined the company that time I fresher and I really thankfully to my company because it given good opportunity as network support engineer and I working on Indian overseas bank Client project . I have handling the whole Mumbai region and Nagpur region with same TMB project of Mumbai. I am happy because part of wipro family.
Really I speaking about work such wonderful and challenging but work and new learning things from work with same new technology and that has to be good things for carrier growth.
Job Security was good since they have more projects.
Learning was good and upto you how you learn in various projects since Wipro has test execution project also.
Compensation is pathetic. They give like 10LPA for 10 year experienced guy.
Company is full of politics. You will struggle to grow professionally (meaning promotion & getting good hike).
Culture is not that good. Mostly you can find noisy environment around you (Sometimes we struggled to have meeting with client due to this kind of environment).
Work-life balance is a question since all employees have to maintain 9.5hrs inside campus and 8.5hrs inside ODC.
Travel policies are not good. Your salary will be less when you travel to Onsite.
As it was my first company I worked with. Overall my experience with Wipro Technologies is awesome, senior management is very helpful and work culture is really good. Wipro really supports in all ways and provides all the necessary facilities.
Only one thing I felt bad is there are few manager who don't deserve to be manager and who doesn't know the work system became useless and they are mis-utilizing the Wipro. That's really hurting...
I learnt a lot from Wipro and really thankful that it allowed me to explore my capabilities and enhance my knowledge. Really had a great experience.
Working environment is very very poor
I have no words to say about wipro its worst company with bunches of worst management.
There is no appraisal for employees no motivation no salary growth and no opportunity.
Management shows their abusing of power.
Still i have not gotten my f&f clear and not got my experience letter almost 3 months completed from my last notice date till now.
In wipro there is no future for employee
I dislike the management they do partiality and they dont give career opportunities for in-house employee
