Why is CTC such a big thing in India?
My contract’s ending soon, so I have been job hunting, I don’t get this why do Indian employers always ask for my current CTC?
Every. Single. Time. Even the job application forms have it as a mandatory field! But when I’ve worked with international clients or companies abroad, they never once asked. It was always about the role, responsibilities, and what they were offering.
Why does it feel like here, your current pay decides your future one? Can someone explain what’s the logic behind this obsession with CTC in India?
