Construction

I currently work a computer-based desk job and was looking into civil. This would be my second career so I want to do as much research as possible about civil and its different subfields. 

I would like to have a career where at least half of the work involves being physically present somewhere instead of sitting in front of a computer. 
Does a site engineer seem like a good fit? What other subfield would you suggest?

Is site engineering for me?

Real poverty is much much higher in USA than data suggests. Poverty in my view is how much you can afford, healthcare costs vs incomes, house cost vs income, wealth inequalities etc. 

Profits over people. 

It's sad that BJP Congress both are pursuing American model in everything. From a cars focused society to skyscrapers to metros to crony capitalism, we are absorbing all the bad things from USA but ignoring the great things in Europe or USA for eg.

Shocking to see widespread poverty in the richest country of the world USA. Is this the model govt wants to push down our throats??

Daily Office Life

When I joined, I thought this job would be different. Smart teammates, real learning, actual growth. But now I’m just doing late-night calls, chasing half-baked deadlines, and nodding in every “quick sync” that goes nowhere.
 
That fake moon in the photo? Pretty much how this job feels. Looks nice from outside, but zero light when you actually need it. Same with those “great job team!” emails, feels good for 10 seconds, then you’re back to working weekends with no hike, no comp-off, nothing.
 
But still, I stay. Because manager said “next quarter will be better.” Because HR said “you’re a key resource.” Because I don’t have energy to start over again.

And maybe that’s the scariest part.
How long do we keep lying to ourselves just to survive one more Monday?

These days, it just feels full of drama, jealousy, and zero real connection. No matter how much effort you put in, people just don’t show up when you need them the most. Honestly, I still feel closer to my college friends. Everything was real back then simple and honest.

Now, after reaching office and spending the whole day with corporate faces and small talk… I’m just done. Don’t even feel like meeting anyone after that.
