I am an IT professional with experience as an IT Support Engineer at ITC Infotech from 2021 to 2022. After a two-year gap due to personal health challenges and family responsibilities, I’m now determined to restart my career in Bangalore, focusing on Quality Assurance (QA) and manual testing. During my hiatus, I invested ₹2 lakh in a comprehensive manual testing course, which I’m committed to studying diligently to strengthen my skills. My goal is to secure a manual testing role to support myself while working toward transitioning to  to to automation testing.

My fiancee works in HR.
Every day she reminds others to set boundaries, take leaves, speak up
But me?, I haven’t taken a break in 6 months my OOO drafts stay unsent, I fake smiles in meetings while silently burning out.

We talk about everything.....except how I’m actually doing.

Funny, isn’t it? The person closest to me handles mental health at work..but even she can’t pull me out of this cycle.

What should i do?

There’s this one guy in my team, super smart, no doubt. Jo cheez hum soch bhi nahi paate, woh already kar chuka hota hai. Always on calls with senior managers, strategy talks. Samjho jaise company vahi chala raha ho.

But bhai, har din bathroom chappal? Seriously?
Not even sliders. Not crocs. Full pocha wali rubber chappal. Faded blue, chipped side, grip ka toh kab ka swaha ho chuka hai. Aur yeh banda mere bagal mein baithta hai. Every leg cross feels like personal attack. Even the chaiwala has better footwear.

It’s distracting, annoying, mood kharab level irritating. Meetings mein jab woh bolta hai, mera focus uski ghissi pitti chappal pe chala jaata hai. I genuinely feel awkward sitting next to him. Har roz yehi office gossip hai.

Bas ab toh bolna padega. Aise thodi chalta hai.

Disclaimer: This is my personal rant. And no, I’m not clicking a pic of those 2 rs chappals, mera camera roll uss level pe nahi gira. Batao ab toh unki chappal ka bhi duplicate mil gaya mujhe.

I’m 22, have ₹1.5L saved. Planning to buy a bike worth ₹2–2.5L.
I already have a scooty but it’s not mine. It’s my dad’s.

And he keeps saying ki scooty wapas le jaunga. Nahi maani toh job bhi chhodwa dunga.

I travel 40–50 km daily for work. And I can ride a bike. I have no dependents, no major expenses, 6 months’ emergency fund and I invest monthly too.

Still… my parents want me to save this money for my wedding.

But for me, it’s not just a bike. It’s freedom. It’s mine. Something I earned, not borrowed.

Am I being stupid or finally putting myself first?

It’s been 6 months since I joined my first company.

And honestly I regret not taking those first few months more seriously.
Not because I wasn’t learning but because no one told me what really matters when you’re new.
