Bug is identified by a tester during testing phase
Bug is reported with detailed information like steps to reproduce, expected and actual results
Bug is assigned to a developer for fixing
Developer fixes the bug and marks it as 'Fixed'
Tester retests the bug to verify if it is resolved
If the bug is not resolved, it is reopened and assigned back to the developer
If the bug is resolved, it is closed

Defect life cycle or bug life cycle is a process of identifying defect fix it. Retesting to answer fix it. Has introduction new issuse and closing the same. In other words goes through during the life time. Defects life cycle or bug life cycle.

1. New

In the new state defect was found the bugs first time.

2. Assigned

After developer found the bug the attached screenshot have explained the software problem in details send to developer .

3. Open

In open state developer accepted the bug as state working and analysis the defect fix it

4. Fixed

In this fixed state after developer fixed the bug as fixed after fixed the defect hand over the testing team.

5. Retest

In retest state the tester re execution has test cases to check the effect fixed or not.

6. Verified

In retest state or if the box has been fixed tester will approved fixed changes status verified.

7. Reopen
