Why can't we measure a transformer's power in kW?

Transformers cannot be measured in kW because they do not consume power, they only transfer it.

Because To calculate Reactive and active power in system. We have to considire Power factor so we give rating in KVA i.e. killo volt ampere (Voltage X current x Powerfactor).

because the transformer rating depends only losses but not in power factor
