Is there a way to get fired without quitting? I’m desperate.
I’ve been working at one of the WITCH companies for a year now, and it’s been slowly eating away at me. The workload never ends, my team lead is toxic, and the constant pressure has made me lose all confidence in myself.
He watches me work like a hawk, shouts at me in front of others, and makes me feel useless if I take too long to finish something. I’m not great at high stress tasks, I take time, and I forget things. That just makes it worse.
I want out. But I can’t resign, my family wouldn’t take it well, and finances are tight.
So I’m asking honestly:
Has anyone successfully managed to get fired in a way that doesn’t mess up future job prospects?
Or even ways to reduce workload without making it obvious?
Anything that can help me breathe a little.

Just start talking about unionizing during team meetings. Either they'll promote you or fire you with benefits

Ek toxic boss ki wajah se apne aap ko mat barbaad kar. Kam bol, zyada observe kar, aur apna backup ready rakh. Apne liye kaam kar, unke liye nahi.

Honestly, this sounds rough.
Instead of getting fired, have you considered quietly job hunting? It's slow but safer for future prospects. Also, don’t let one toxic guy convince you you're the problem. You’re not.

You're not alone. Many high-pressure work environments can feel suffocating. Instead of trying to get fired, could you try asking for a different team or manager? Even a small change internally might help you breathe easier.

If finances are tight, try finding freelance gigs on the side...Upwork, Fiverr, anything. Once you have some buffer, you’ll feel more in control and can plan an exit without needing to get fired.

Getting fired strategically without burning bridges is tricky. HR might see it as poor performance and that’ll follow you. Better to quietly job hunt and take sick leaves/mental health days when you can to regroup.

Start replying to emails with "per my last breakdown…"
But fr, don’t tank your future because of a bad boss. Quiet quitting sounds more fun and less risky.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Please don’t be hard on yourself, no job is worth your peace of mind.
If quitting isn’t an option right now, can you try to document the toxic behavior and reach out to HR or an internal mental health resource? Your wellbeing matters.

You don’t need to get fired. You need to emotionally detach for a bit. Do only what’s expected, nothing extra. Don’t chase praise. Just survive while building your escape route.

honestly I was in the same boat with a micromanaging boss. I started documenting everything...just in case things escalated. But instead of trying to get fired, I looked for internal transfers. Any chance you can switch teams?
