A good boss isn’t enough if the skip manager isn’t human

I’m suffering from a major slip disc. And I’m not exaggerating. I can’t stand for long, and I can’t even sit for long hours. Anyone who has had a slip disc or has seen a family member go through it will understand how painful it is. The shooting pain is unbearable sometimes… it even makes me dizzy. I requested WFH from my boss. He understood immediately and approved it. I even shared my medical reports to show I’m not lying. I’m genuinely grateful to him for that. But then my skip manager jumped in and said NO just like that, without even giving a reason. It was honestly very disappointing. At this point, I feel like what’s the point of a supportive manager if their hands are tied anyway? Very disheartened. Getting paranoid now. Don’t know what to do. Is this fair?

A supportive manager can do so much… but a toxic skip can undo it all in one sentence.
Immediate manager should take stance for employee to senior management and to HR . This can be easily done by submitting productivity report for the impacted employee

Some people are just animals in human form, they have zero empathy for a fellow human being. Discuss with your immidate manger and ask him to pitch in with his higher up or reach out to HR to see if they can do anything

slip disc koi chhoti moti baat nahi hai. Body hilana mushkil ho jata hai, kaam toh door ki baat hai
