Advice - Equity Research Analyst as a Career ?
Daily routine of reading over 100+ pages, continuously analyzing annual reports and making Models makes me feel drained. The deeper I go , more technical knowledge is required and it feels exhausting. Given the work I put into equity research analysis (ERA), the pay (4-5 LPA) doesn’t seem to match the effort involved. On the other hand, I have friends in marketing who engage more with people, less demanding and earn the same amount.
Some days analyzing businesses feels intellectually stimulating, which also leads to passive income from investing in stocks—creating 2 income streams. But on other days, the work feels draining and frustrating, and the thought of looking at another chart makes me wanna punch the screen.
I was sure that I wanted a career in equity research, and my entire resume is built around core finance. However, after completing an internship in ERA, I’m having doubts me to question whether this is the right path, which is leading to a bit of a career crisis.

[lustroustandoori](username) Go on LinkedIn find Wealth Management. Startup’s preferably they might hire people actively or even established firms. Go to their LinkedIn company pages. In people section write HR and send request to everyone and pitch yourself accordingly.

It's understandable to feel overwhelmed and question your career path. What other areas of finance are you interested in exploring ?

I get it—ERA can be rewarding, but the burnout is real when the effort and pay don’t align; maybe exploring less technical finance roles could balance things out!

If you find the technical aspects of equity research draining, explore other roles within finance that might better suit your interests. For example, you could consider investment banking, corporate finance, or financial planning and analysis.
